Happy birthday. I quit celebrating birthdays to recognize I’m a year older. I celebrate the fact that I’ve made it another year around the sun and am still going. I’m glad you were able to find a way to celebrate yours in a positive way for you.

🙋🏾♀️ yup. I can totally relate. Ever since I was thrown a surprise birthday party as a kid, I have hated my birthday. And going away has also been a way that I have avoided my feelings about it. And yes. It gets worse the older I get.

I used to love my birthdays when I was younger, then since 35+ it became depressing cause all I was doing was asking myself whatever next, where should I be in life etc etc then I took a different perspective and started to look at my birthdays more like a reason to celebrate that I am still here and many people do not get the chance to get to the age I am in, so more of a gratitude celebration in a very small circle without the fake people around … happy birthday Ciara we appreciate you another year❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
