Pakistan has been the first trip Iโve taken since my brother died last November. Anyone who knows me knows how unusual that is for me, travel and being outdoors has always been a way for me to regulate myself and quiet my loud brain.
Exploring new places has felt too hard without Alex, as he was the one I would share my photos and stories with. I always thought my brother was the coolest person I knew, but turns out he thought the same of me going on all of my adventures.
I feel that Iโve spent the last few months begging for signs that he is still here, that he is not gone forever. I guess thatโs a normal part of grief, the bargaining of any form of comfort to ease the void where someone you loved use to be.
Pakistan felt like the first time that that plea to the universe was finally heard and answered. Maybe signs arenโt real, and when we die we are gone and that is simply it. But I like to believe he is around, and that I can see him in the places and people that I love.
So for anyone else grieving, look up at the stars and ask for a sign - maybe youโll get one. Maybe it is all just coincidental, who knows. I think itโs okay to believe in the signs though. Sending peace to everyone who needs it right now. Grief is hard, be gentle with yourself ๐
