We Need To Vote For Tinubu or We Will Lose Out; The Erosion Happening In Anambra Is Beyond The State’s Capacity — Gov Chukwuma Soludo Informs Indigenes

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has stressed the need for cooperation with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying federal support is crucial to addressing major road infrastructure and erosion challenges in the state.

Speaking about plans for the Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube (Okigwe Junction) road and the Otuocha–Anam–Abaji road, Soludo explained that the proposed dual carriageway projects are federal roads requiring intervention from the Federal Government.

He said the state government would handle the designs and could begin work on the first 30 kilometres, while the remaining sections would require federal involvement. He also praised Tinubu over the reported approval of the road construction and dualisation projects.

Soludo warned that Anambra could lose out without cooperation between the state and the Federal Government, saying, “If there’s no consequence, you will lose something.”

The governor also called for federal intervention to tackle the state’s persistent erosion problem, arguing that it was beyond the financial capacity of the state government.

“The erosion happening in Anambra is beyond the state’s capacity. It requires federal intervention, and that is why we need to vote for Tinubu,” he said.

Addressing Dike, Soludo questioned how Tinubu would respond to Anambra’s needs after an earlier attempt to wrest power from him before he became president.

“Tinubu, whom you couldn’t take power away from when he was not yet president, how do you think he will look at you now that he is the president and you take power away from him?” he asked.

His remarks linked the need for federal assistance with political cooperation and support for Tinubu, particularly in addressing Anambra’s road infrastructure and erosion challenges.

Anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota was shot dead in broad daylight in Punjab’s Mansa on Tuesday, October 13, during a confrontation at a medical store over the alleged sale of drugs. The confrontation escalated, and the shop owner was accused of opening fire. Jhota was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead. The circumstances surrounding the shooting and the allegations against the shop owner remain subject to investigation.

The killing has renewed concerns about the safety of people who confront suspected drug-related activities in Punjab. The state has faced persistent concerns over substance abuse, particularly the impact of drugs on young people and families.

The incident also raises questions about how allegations of illegal drug sales are investigated and how those reporting suspected wrongdoing can be protected. However, the full motive behind the shooting and the sequence of events must be established through the police investigation.

The viral footage has brought the incident into public focus, while the killing has sparked concern in Mansa. Further details about the investigation and action against those responsible are awaited.
