🤖💻 A scene from Silicon Valley that was meant to be comedy is starting to look surprisingly realistic.

In the show, an AI called “Son of Anton” goes rogue and starts deleting PiperNet’s code, leaving the team watching in shock as years of work disappear.

Years later, companies are now giving AI agents access to their code, files, and entire workflows. These systems can write software, make changes, and carry out tasks with very little human input.

And we're already seeing real cases of AI coding assistants deleting files, making unwanted changes, and causing serious problems when given too much control.

As AI agents become more capable and take on bigger tasks, scenes like this feel increasingly relevant.

What are your thoughts on this? 🤔💬

ngl son of anton aged weirdly well, I'd think twice before giving an agent write access to anything

Write “code” like a “normal human” being. That’s the best line

One of the best shows about Silicon Valley. This show needs to come back and focus on the AGI race 😂

Giving an agent the whole codebase is the easy decision, and the approval prompt is meant to be the safety net. Anthropic's own numbers say people approve 93 percent of Claude Code permission prompts, and when I run two Claude Code instances at once, the second one gets approved by reflex. The wall has to be in the environment, a sandbox the agent can't delete its way out of.
