Tonight at the Board of Directors meeting for ASPS in Houston, I received the “Best Use of Social Media - Inspirational Category” — this was an award I honestly was NOT expecting to receive. And when I got the email a few weeks ago, I was super emotional and wasn’t allowed to say anything 😂. As many of my friends and colleagues know, social media use in plastic surgery can be challenging to navigate. Finding one’s own voice, being authentic, but also delivering content that is educational, ethical and entertaining is hard and the landscape is constantly evolving.

I’m grateful to my peers who nominated me for this award and who voted for me. I truly am thankful for all of you and respect you all so much. I’m grateful to be in a profession that blesses us with the humbling opportunity to help people achieve their aesthetic and functional goals in life, and using social media in a positive way to spread this knowledge has been key.

I’m thankful for ASPS, the largest society of board certified plastic surgeons in the world, for always trying to help guide our specialty and always open to innovation and change. Thank you to President @basuplasticsurgery for your leadership and for guiding us all.
