On 13 October 2026, contractor Alliance Verdi Civil Inc. started removing the bike lanes on Bloor Street W, Toronto, near Islington. After protestors successfully pushed back against said dismantling, Toronto Police riot police struck back in force the next day: 200m of bike lane was dismantled under the supervision of 100 riot cops. @thebikinglawyer called a protest the same evening against the continued dismantling of the bike lanes, which will stretch all the way to downtown in the near future. 2 arrests were reported today, one around 1pm, the other around 7:50pm— the latter was misgendered by police and had her bike seized.

I stopped using bike lanes because cars kept driving in them. Not risking my life.

Bikes have a right to the road. The only way to stop bikes having the right to the road is by removing that in law. Is that next?

I will be in the middle of the lane when there is more then one lane. When there is multiple cyclist on one lane, we will take the lane, let's see how it will help with congestion

Id love to see an interviewer do ask the name and badge of every cop there, and then ask them if they feel proud and like they are protecting and serving the public..... 😂
