To the President of the Harvard Corporation, Alan Garber, Provost John Manning, and the Harvard University Administration:

On behalf of over 4,000 undergraduate and graduate student workers employed by Harvard University and represented by the Harvard Graduate Students Union-UAW Local 5118, we write to demand Harvard University Administration bargain in good faith and settle a fair contract now.

We love our teaching and research. We would rather be mentoring our students than walking a picket line. But our dedication is not permission to exploit us. You have forced us to strike by denying us the conditions we need to do our work:
Safe Workplace: Real recourse against harassment and discrimination, with enforceable protections and access to our union’s grievance process.
Fair Pay and Benefits: Compensation and access to benefits that let us afford to live where we work, in one of the most expensive cities in the country.
The Right to Stay: Enforceable protections and meaningful support for our non-citizen coworkers facing attack after attack from a hostile federal administration.

It is unconscionable to demand our labor while denying us a safe workplace and the means to live. We stand up for our students every day. We must stand up for ourselves, too.

Our labor makes Harvard work. Give us the conditions to keep doing it.

Sincerely,
HGSU-UAW Members

I'm brazilian, this is why we won; Meta mostly and others bigtechs was and are giving more visibility to the Far Right and hiding the left communication. So we fought back: 1 - A left politician called Andre Janones create a WhatsApp channel called "Lula's army" and call people there to do "missions" . The missions were things like: ",bring more people to the channel"(it end up with almost 11 million people), "make some hashtag go up together right now." " Make this subject be number one in Google search now" " make this Instagram post to viral now, all together". Those organized actions with millions of people in the same time breaked algorithm control and made people see what we want them to see, the truth bigtechs were helping far right to hide. The army also have rules to not make far right more popular by ignoring them, not comment in their post, do follow them, neither share anything about them... Because if you go to some "far right horrible things they said" post and interact with it, the algorithm will make those post even more popular. And the important left post you have to "like, share, comment, watch the entire vídeo, repost to make the algorithm make it more visible 2 - We used our online organization to make very organized streets campaigns. We did the biggest campaigns in Brazil History in almost the entire country Used this, save your democracy from Bigtechs
