I feel you and I'm in the same boat. Single business owner woman in a country that sees and treats my kinda people as outlaws. Howl School for Dogs is a qualified dog training service which also has a consultant associate clinical animal behaviourist under its banner now. When someone says I can fix your dog’s behaviour in one week it actually means that they’re just going to bully or force your dog to suppress the behaviours. This might seem appealing but one it doesn’t do is find out why your dog was doing that in the first place, and that could be a source of suffering for them. You love your dog of course you do. A lot of these snake oil salesman rely on people feeling desperate and vulnerable and needing something that is going to help. It might be that you went to a qualified professional before and it didn’t help but that might be that they weren’t the right one for you it doesn’t mean the resulting to these kinds of unethical practitioners is what your dog needs. If your dog is exhibiting aggression, reactivity, resource guarding, they’re biting, their lunging at other dogs or people, they won’t let strangers come in the house, they’re hyperactive et cetera et cetera this is all indicative that there is something causing your dog difficulty. Please don’t make their life and your life even harder by involving aversive methods that are rooted in archaic beliefs about dogs trying to dominate us, dogs trying to be the alpha, dogs trying to be the top dog, dogs needing a firm hand, et cetera. And yes I’m talking about pitties, bully breeds, chihuahuas, labradors, golden retrievers, cockapoos, spaniels, malinois, german shepherds, Rottweilers, cane corsos, terriers, rescue dogs, puppies, senior dogs and more. #dogs #puppy #dogstagram

I work with clients in their homes to support new puppies and also dogs of all ages with training & behaviour modification. A healthy greeting between two dogs that are strangers to each other should usually follow the same ritual: Calm approach with soft body language Sniff the nose Sniff the genitals Then they decide we play or we mooch around near each other or we go separate ways. If your dog is approaching other dogs by racing up to them that is going to cause stress and potentially conflict. Your dog may do that because they’ve learnt bad manners somewhere, or because they’re hyperaroused for some reason (stress, tummy ache, musculoskeletal pain etc) or just simply because they don’t know what to do. I thought some of you might find it interesting to see how I, a qualified dog trainer, deal with my Yorkshire terrier x Maltese rescue dog when she barks at me. I love a dog to feel safe. I love to listen to them and work out what they’re communicating. I appreciate the times when they are barking more and take it as information as to how they are feeling. More barking normally means more cortisol or adrenaline in their system or an unmet need or something worrying them or excitement or overwhelm etc etc. it’s always information. Je pars en déplacement professionnel, mais visiblement mes fonctions de mère restent assurées à distance. Quand l'histoire et l'imagination se rencontrent ça donne ce magnifique récit ! Nous lisons sans aucun doute un roman qui contient une mine d'informations ainsi que des détails extraordinaires ! On explore les thèmes de la religion et de la foi qui l'accompagne ainsi que les croyances divers , également le côté familial ainsi que son oppression et son appartenance. Les émotions sont présentes, une palette complète partant de l injustice à la cruauté mais qui démontre aussi le courage ! Des femmes longtemps oubliées remontent de ce récit historique et leurs droits longtemps bafoués ! Quant aux personnages on passe de l'adoration au mépris ! L'héroïne est marquante , forte et déterminée ! Malgré son vœu de silence , elle convainc plus qu'une personne qui aurait la parole ! Ensuite nous avons le pasteur , qui est un personnage central du récit qui se sert amplement de la religion comme motivation à sa chasse aux sorcier(e)s . Peut-on le qualifier de crapuleux ? Oui , amplement. J'ai réellement apprécié l écriture de l autrice de par sa richesse de connaissances que son point fort de nous plonger dans l Islande de l'époque ! J'ai eu un peu de mal avec les prénoms, les lieux car les noms nordique ne sont pas évident à retenir et différencier mais c'est le seul bémol trouvé ! En bref, une lecture que j'ai apprécié fortement ! Livre offert .
