October highlights

I went out a lot to events - dog and non-dog!
The planners arrived and are fab so no drama there
I still have no hot water so have booked a lot of kettles and pans and am very grateful to live round the corner to my friend Tracy
And we got through to the dog friendly awards!

Haven’t halloweened in years but @lorenrochelle and @robinshoots threw a great party and gave me a good reason to get dolled up! I was dressed as cult member of Eyes Wide Shut and my ass was all the way out underneath this cape but I’m saving those pics for the Sewnly Fans™️😉 Cape is made from the absolute worst pattern I have ever sewn in my life from an Etsy seller called Sewing Pattern Studios based out of NY that apparently uses Ai to write their instructions. Timing for this atrocity was great cause it truly made me want to murder someone. I got my measly $3 refunded for the shitty pattern and it STILL wasn’t worth it, but thankfully I have enough sewing skills to figure most things out and the cape came out decent enough. The Godiva body suit is from a Madalynne pattern and wasn’t as frustrating as other patterns I’ve made from this brand that were poorly explained hacks, so that was a win (although I did have to cut the thong and add more length to it because it was so short I thought it would slice my buttcrack in half). Unfortunately the expensive kit I bought for this bodysuit from the Madalynne shop did not have enough band elastic for the pattern as written, and I made the smallest size. This is likely one of the reasons the suit felt so short, and anyone larger than me who bought this kit is sadly shit out of luck if they got the same length of elastic I did- it would have been untenable. Pretty disappointing. Sewing this costume was not a joyful experience but I sacrificed for the holiday and I love how I looked once I was on the other side of it! Lastly, I wrote on substack about the halloween when I was six and my mom made our costumes. Hilarious that exactly forty years later I make my own and also had a horrible time in the process 😂 link in bio!
