Bury me with the Lo on! 🐎
Had the honor of building with
@thirstinhowlthe3rd at an event that created FOMO around the world! 🌎
It was only right to chop it up with a pioneer and OG of the movement. We’re talking about a crew of Brooklyn kids who were “robbing & hood” (see what I did there 👀) just to get a piece of the American Dream.
Times were hard, tough like leather, and they didn’t have much. But they wanted a piece—or a few pieces—of the dream Ralph Lauren was creating. By racking some 🐎, they could be in the Hamptons lampin’, even if only through the clothes on their backs.
We got a sneak peek of the book, launching tomorrow in Tokyo at
@doverstreetmarket, and got into the controversy surrounding
@poloralphlauren being worn in the penitentiary.
My take? Polo wouldn’t have the same aspirational place in streetwear, hip-hop, and sneaker culture without this groundbreaking crew.
And what makes the story even more powerful is seeing these OGs take something that started negatively and turn it into something positive, mentoring the next generation and passing down the culture.
Much respect to the pioneers who helped shape the movement and are still giving back. 🐎🙌🏾
