【PoloFest Tokyo】 開催日程：2026年10月23日（金）〜25日（日） 会場：ヨドバシJ6ビル（東京都渋谷区神宮前6-35-6） ⸻ To celebrate Ralph Lauren’s 50th anniversary in Japan, SASHIKO GALS has created a one-of-a-kind Polo Bear for PoloFest, made with love and heartfelt congratulations. Working together, the SASHIKO GALS artisans spent over 70 hours carefully stitching each sashiko pattern by hand. The bear itself is entirely handmade, and even its sweater has been hand-knitted. The eyes and nose are crafted from upcycled deer leather provided by a local gibier project in Otsuchi, Iwate Prefecture. Ralph Lauren embodies American culture, while SASHIKO GALS brings a contemporary perspective to the traditional Japanese art of sashiko. Through the beauty of handcraftsmanship, these two cultures come together in a truly special creation. We hope you’ll come and experience it at PoloFest! 【PoloFest Tokyo】 Dates: October 23 (Fri) – 25 (Sun), 2026 Venue: Yodobashi J6 Building 6-35-6 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan @ralphlauren @poloralphlauren #polofest #サシコギャルズ #sashikogals by @sashiko_gals
— Weaving people and time together. Otsuchi Gakuen, Iwate, Japan. Fifteen years after the Great East Japan Earthquake, a generation with no memory of that day takes up a needle. The handwork that once brought comfort now brings smiles to children’s faces. A generation that did not experience the disaster becomes the next to carry this tradition forward. With needle and thread, across generations. From one generation to the next, and to those yet to come, the thread continues. It begins with a simple feeling: “I’d like to try.” Every person who finds joy in stitching helps give this tradition a future. Sashiko for everyone. Our crowdfunding campaign to bring sashiko kits and SASHIKO CLUB to more people runs until November 30. We would be grateful for your support—or for sharing our story. ⸻ Everyone has their own reason for discovering sashiko. SASHIKO GALS began in Otsuchi, Iwate, Japan. Today, that circle is gradually growing beyond Otsuchi. Some didn’t begin because of the earthquake or any particular life event. They simply loved sashiko and kept stitching, year after year. Their love for sashiko is what kept them going. And through all those years of stitching, they’ve discovered just how much depth there is to this craft. Each stitch is simple, yet the more you learn, the more there is to discover. Drawn together by that joy, more people have gradually joined the community. Different beginnings, different ages, different places. The time each person has lived and the experiences they’ve gathered become connected through sashiko. Weaving people and time together. You don’t need a special reason to begin. With just a needle and thread, anyone can start. Sashiko, for everyone. With this belief, we’ve created a new sashiko kit. Why not start stitching with us?
Weaving People and Time Together. “ Sashiko saved me.” “While stitching, I could forget about the painful things in my life.” These are the words of the SASHIKO GALS, women from Otsuchi, Iwate, a town deeply affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Meanwhile, someone trying sashiko for the first time smiles and says, “I’m not very good at it yet, but making something with my own hands is so much fun.” For some, sashiko has been a way to get through difficult times. For others, it is the beginning of a new joy. All you need is a needle and thread. Anyone can begin, anytime, anywhere. A worn garment can be repaired. Something old can be given new life. And with every stitch, we add new memories, meaning, and a deeper sense of attachment to the things we cherish. What we hope to pass on through sashiko is more than just a traditional craft. It is people’s stories, memories, and the time we share. One stitch at a time. Weaving People and Time Together. Ralph Lauren、New Balance、New Eraなど、世界のブランドとのコラボレーションにも取り組んできました。 — Sashiko, for everyone. In March 2024, thirteen years after the Great East Japan Earthquake, SASHIKO GALS was born from the sashiko activities that had continued in Otsuchi. Over the past two and a half years, with so much support, we have added sashiko to sneakers and clothing, one stitch at a time. Along the way, we have collaborated with global brands including Ralph Lauren, New Balance, and New Era. “This is how far sashiko can go.” Little by little, we hope we have helped people discover its possibilities. Our next goal is to bring more people into the joy of making sashiko themselves. Rooted in Japanese tradition, sashiko is something you can begin anytime, anywhere—with just fabric, a needle, and thread. You can enjoy it on your own or together with others. In Otsuchi after the earthquake, time spent stitching became a source of comfort and strength. We want to share that experience with more people. To create a starting point, SASHIKO GALS and itonowa—a brand behind a wide range of craft kits—have been developing and refining an original sashiko kit together since last year. Start by following the printed lines. As you grow more confident, try changing colors or connecting the lines in your own way. It is a kit that lets you find your freedom, one stitch at a time. Whether you are new to sashiko or have enjoyed it for years. Whether life feels busy or you are feeling a little low. Now, it’s your turn to create a piece of your own. Why not pick up a needle and join us? #sashikogals #サシコギャルズ #itonowa #刺し子 @itonowa_lifestyle by @sashiko_gals
How adorable is this? You can feel the love for Totoro in every little detail. Stitch by stitch, it was carefully finished with sashiko. The more you look, the more you can feel the love and care that went into making it. We really love sashiko.
In Amami Oshima. It’s hard to believe it’s already been about seven years since we first connected. Another wonderful mud-dyeing experience. The more you do it, the more you realize how deep the craft really is. In that sense, it feels very similar to sashiko. Working by hand, taking the time, and slowly watching each piece develop its own character. There’s something endlessly fascinating about handcraft. by @sashiko_gals

Collaboration with KUON Fall/Winter 2026 Available from tomorrow. @kuon_store @kuon_tokyo_official by @sashiko_gals
SASHIKO GALS × KUON × Patina. A collaboration bringing the handwork of Otsuchi into a new collection created exclusively for Patina, launching 16 September at Patina Osaka, with Patina Maldives to follow. At the heart of the collection are @sashiko_gals, a group of women in Otsuchi, Iwate, whose practice grew from the Otsuchi Sashiko Project established after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. Their sashiko stitching runs across every piece by hand, with variations that make each bucket hat and sacoche unique. Meet SASHIKO GALS. Based in Otsuchi, Iwate, the collective brings together women in their 40s to 80s, each practising sashiko by hand. Their work has developed alongside @kuon_tokyo_official, which brings the craft into contemporary fashion and new collaborations. The relationship goes back to the Otsuchi Sashiko Project, established after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011. Over the years, the women kept building their skill, while KUON helped create new ways for that work to travel beyond Otsuchi. In 2024, the project became SASHIKO GALS. From 16 September, the collection will be available at Patina Osaka, followed by Patina Maldives at a later date and Patina Tianjin upon its opening. by @sashiko_gals
