I’m still buzzing from the Pride Hub Newham launch this past Saturday!

Thank you to everyone who made it such a warm, joyful afternoon — so many friendly, generous people, and such a beautiful start to something that’s clearly going to be special.

I’m honoured to be joining the Autumn/Winter programme as a guest facilitator, and I’m delighted to share that my workshop will be on Saturday 31st October.

We’ll be exploring the ‘Estandarte’— a banner traditionally associated with Brazilian carnival culture. It’s not just decoration, it’s identity carried on a pole.

Together we’ll build our own banners from reclaimed and found materials, turning what’s been discarded into something that carries meaning, memory and belonging.

It was great to be at the launch of the Black Creatives Deconstructed colouring book and to see my design alongside so many other beautiful and unique designs by fellow artists.

The final product looks very cool, and I’m really happy to be part of this project created by UAL.

I’m pleased to announce that one my drawings is part of the of ‘Black Creatives Deconstructed’ colouring book by UAL featuring 20 unique colouring designs by 9 artists.

Join us to celebrate the launch!

Tuesday 6 October
4:30–7:30 PM at @notjustashopual

During the evening, we’ll be colouring illustrations from the book together, with music, drinks and snacks. It will also be a chance to meet the artists behind the illustrations, see our work in the book, and purchase a copy.

I could not forget to say a huge thank you to @boldmelloncollective for including me in the book ‘You Are All Who Came Before, You Are All Who Will Come After’, and for giving me the space to show my ‘Ephemeral Permanence’ banners for the very first time.

Getting to share that process, and see it land with people for the first time, meant more than I can properly put into words.

Many thanks to each one of you @dear_annie_arts, @amyroseedlyn, @em_talgat, it was a pleasure to meet you all.

The ‘Ephemeral Permanence’ series began with a Carnival costume I danced in and then dismantled, rebuilding its fragments — together with Brazilian coffee sacks and reclaimed British furniture — into standards.

Holding the finished book in my hands still hasn’t fully sunk in.

‘You Are All Who Came Before, You Are All Who Will Come After’ is a beautiful, generous collection of LGBTQIA+ creatives writing and making work about migration, belonging, and home — every page carrying its own way of asking what it means to leave, arrive, and rebuild.

I’m proud to have ‘Origens’, 2025 and ‘Influences’, 2025 sitting among them. Huge congratulations to everyone at @boldmellon for pulling this whole thing together.

I’m out of words to describe how fantastic it was to be part of Bold Mud V by @boldmelloncollective.

Seeing the ‘Ephemeral Permanence’ works on display at the launch of the book ‘You Are All Who Came Before, You Are All Who Will Come After’ was truly special.

Watching people walk up, ask about the works, and hearing what they saw in them, made the whole series feel alive in a new way. So many good conversations about Carnival, migration, and what we carry with us when we leave a place.

The series transforms fragments of a Brazilian Carnival costume into standards, bringing together reclaimed materials, popular traditions, memory and migration. Thrilled to share that a piece from my Parade Echoes series will be part of the ‘10 Years of SET’ exhibition.

For Notting Hill Carnival 2026, I had the amazing opportunity to work with @sustentacarnaval , transforming discarded and collected costumes from Rio de Janeiro for @1dende.nation

Pieces were dismantled, cut, sewn, painted and reassembled.

Over 70kg of textiles were saved from waste in the process.

What I loved most was seeing these materials move again, transformed into new pieces worn by dancers and musicians at Notting Hill Carnival.

It was a brilliant exercise in creativity, reuse and discovering just how much potential there is in what we usually consider waste.

Thank you @marianarpinho and everyone involved in making this project happen.
