As we left Zipolite and followed the road south we realised that drive from Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido had ruined our brakes… so we stopped at the oil refinery town of Salina Cruz hoping that a garage there wld have experience of big trucks.

It took 4 days to get new brake pads and rivets fitted… and while we waited we went to Punta Conejo! 🌊

We left the Etla Valley & Oaxaca City behind us to camp at a lake on route back to the Pacific. Celebrated Día de la Independencia in Puerto Escondido and made it to the beach in Mazunte for some serious chill… and Tuppence’s first undercut (last pics)!

This past week at Divertigranja in the Etla Valley (part 2)

@workawayinfo in kinda new to us but going forward we’ll be looking for places to stay where we can contribute in some way… at Divertigranja we not only helped Don Victor Hugo at the animal sanctuary but we decided to spruce up the campsite area.

Inspired by a pile of wood we laid out 5 camper van parking spaces, filled in all the pot holes and and added official numbers - then added colour!

We also patched up the horses stable and planted pots & pots of seeds 🌱

This past week at Divertigranja in the Etla Valley (part1)

Don Victor Hugo runs an animal sanctuary just north of Oaxaca and welcomes the help of people passing through… we came for one night and stayed a week.

We had long, relaxed mornings of helping on the farm alongside other volunteers followed by shared lunches all together… I watched the kids navigate farm instructions in Spanish and sitting at a table with new people. I know they loved every moment because each morning they were up’n’ dressed chivvying us parents out of bed.

Go visit and let me know if you found it easy to leave because we did not.

It’s my birthday today, this year we’ve driven over 10,000 miles across Europe & the Americas while roadschooling our children in environments as varied & as beautiful as you would expect… yet it’s the human connections across the thousands of miles that have touched my heart the most. I have learnt so much about how I want to be as a human - share more and care more with as many people as possible.

We have another year ahead of us on the road… and I cannot wait! @packlightlyandgo
