Costume design is as cumbersome as it is tricky.

* As a creative, you can’t just chase what looks good or tick your personal boxes
* It is about total surrender to the script, the character’s soul, and the vision of the producers, director, and entire team.
* The creatives job is to bring that character to life so authentically that the audience feels them, not just sees them.

I'm immensely grateful to have worked on this season's wedding of @skeemsaam13 and luckily, I got to adorn one of my favourite people @ericmacheru a genuinely kind person, warm, and so relatable 🫂

Side note! The last slide is the very first wedding I designed for this groom, the Leeto character. From then till now, you’ve remained one of one.

The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, 27th Edition - 2026

I’ve been hooked on the JoJ since its Newtown days, way back when. Today my friend Dr. @lesleymofokeng called me a jazzophile for the first time. Guilty as charged!

Day ONE:
Here’s the buzz. There’s no way to cover every set, so I’m just sharing the ones that hit me right in the feels.

The Reflections of Manzi Big Band, with killer arrangements by Themba Mkhize and Afrika Mkhize? Absolute magic 👌🏾 My mate Mongezi basically dragged me there (handcuff-style), and wow! I walked out completely wrecked in the best way. They blew me away.

DAY TWO:
Was pure chaos in the best sense. Caught a slice of Floetry, then dashed to the next show, and the next, and the next. Total marathon with no finish line. And I loved every second of being spoiled for choice.

Honestly? The JoJ weekend owes me nothing.
See you next year—huge thanks to the JoJ team for the invite. I had an immense blast. 🎷🥁 🎹 🎸 🎤

One thing I love about working on event outfits is a strong design concept or theme, especially when a customer also gives me creative freedom.

So Bellas aka Mashmallow’s MD, Happy (super mom) and Khwenzo (MD partner). I was afforded full creative freedom with the custom-made suit and its design.

Looking at all the frames, voilà! This is what we’ve achieved: a strong interpretation where tradition meets modern classic. I need to emphasise that many hours went into hand-beading the cowry shells onto the lapel, with a deliberately minimal approach on the neck and sleeves.

Happy Mashmallow and Khwenzo, thank you for trusting me to deliver such an immaculate-looking suit. You teens looked mad-breathtaking just likea true constellation of stars that sparkled throughout the night. by @paledisegapo
