First Annual Back to School Bash & Passion to Purpose Launch… SUCCESSFUL. ❤️

What started as an idea became a day full of smiles, laughter, community, and purpose.

Seeing kids running around having fun, families connecting, volunteers serving with love, vendors showing up, backpacks being handed out, food being shared, and our community coming together reminded me exactly why I started Passion to Purpose.

None of this would’ve been possible without every single person who poured into this vision. Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, sponsored, partnered with us, gave advice, shared resources, prayed for me, or simply showed up. Every contribution mattered, and I don’t take any of it for granted. A special thank you to @htxcloud for letting us join you all!

This wasn’t just a Back to School Bash. This was the beginning of something much bigger.

To every child we reached, every family we served, and every person who believes in this mission… thank you for being part of our very first chapter.

I’m already looking forward to next year because we’re only going up from here.

Here’s to our First Annual Back to School Bash.
Here’s to the official launch of Passion to Purpose.
Here’s to many more lives we’ll impact together.

See y’all at the next one.
To all of our local and out of state sponsors: @wingsnackex , @journeyofcare , @rfcengineers , @clutchcityrg_htx , @lifesaversemergencyroom , @hi.kephotography , @mssarahsosa ….. THANK YOU

@verizon , @cfa_45wayside , @heb @raisingcanes THANK YOU!!

Yesterday was more than a Back to School Bash. It was the official beginning of Passion to Purpose.

There were so many moments I wanted to give up. I was overwhelmed, stressed, and honestly wondering how I was going to pull everything together. A lot of what I thought I could depend on fell through, and I found myself carrying this vision almost entirely on my own.

But God.

When I didn’t know where the volunteers would come from, they came. When I didn’t know where the partnerships would come from, they came. I planned for a few volunteer shirts and ended up needing 12…and still ran out. That’s the kind of God I serve. He will provide beyond what you can see.

I’m so thankful to my family, friends, volunteers, Mike Jenkins, Selvin Young, and everyone who showed up, served, donated, encouraged, and believed in this mission. You helped turn what could’ve been a simple backpack giveaway into a true community event.

This experience also taught me something I’ll carry with me forever: everyone who shares your vision isn’t meant to help build it. Yesterday reminded me that if God gave you the vision, He’ll also make a way. Even when you can’t see it yet.

This is only the beginning. Passion to Purpose is here, and we’re just getting started.

‼️Official post coming soon!!!

GOD IS SO GOOD!!! LORD , I thank you!

Real footage of a nonprofit founder trying to be productive…
I promise the backpacks WILL get packed…
I just need somebody to tell me, “Derriel, girl do some work.”
We’re looking for volunteers this Friday and Sunday.

Come help us make a child’s school year a little brighter.

Message me if you’re available.

Houston back to school bash! Straight off work and straight into purpose.

Huge thank you to LifeSaver Emergency Room for helping save the day with this backpack donation for Passion to Purpose. Your generosity is going to make a difference for so many kids.

People see the event, but they don’t always see everything that happens behind the scenes. Running a nonprofit means the work doesn’t stop. Whether I’m getting off my nursing shift, picking up donations, making phone calls, or loading boxes, it still has to get done. Tired or not, the mission keeps moving.

Thank you to every person who’s donated, supported, or believed in this vision. I can’t wait to see everyone on August 2nd at 5:00 PM at Dylan’s Park. Come out, bring the family, and let’s make a difference together!

Stay tuned!!!! This day was a reminder that growth rarely feels comfortable.

Stepping onto this platform was a big deal for me because speaking in front of people has never come naturally. I still get the butterflies. I still get nervous. But this year I promised myself I would stop hiding and start saying yes to the opportunities God places in front of me.
I had the chance to share the vision for DeExclusive Events and how I hope to grow it into a multipurpose space that helps support the mission of Passion to Purpose. Hearing India’s advice challenged me in the best way. She read me like a book, and I truly received every word.
I’m grateful for this opportunity, grateful for everyone who cheered me on, and grateful that I’m finally finding my voice. Because the truth is, people can’t support what they don’t know about.
Here’s to more stages, more conversations, more growth, and walking boldly in the purpose God has for me. This is only the beginning. #Unlearning Silence with Derriel!!! taken in Houston, Texas by @passiontopurpose_

Christina : “Where’s the passion in your voice?”

Me: “This is just a test!”

Turns out… this journey has been one big test. Real talk!!!

Building a nonprofit comes with plenty of retakes, closed doors, people falling off, and moments where you wonder if you can keep going. But God has shown me time and time again that every closed door makes room for the right one to open.

So yes, we’ve been tested…but we’re passing.

The mission has never changed. We’re still showing up. We’re still serving. We’re still creating tomorrow’s leaders today, where passion meets purpose.
Stay tuned for the official introduction, and we can’t wait to see you at our launch on August 2nd! by @passiontopurpose_

Everybody donates backpacks. Nobody talks about what’s inside them.
We’re collecting school supplies for 100 students and the list is longer than you think.
Pencils. Paper. Pens. Crayons. Markers. Folders. Binders. Glue sticks. Notebook paper. And that’s just the beginning.
Help us fill backpacks with the tools students need to succeed this school year.
Donate. Share. Sponsor.
