18.11.2010 is the day that changed my life forever. I was a young lad that got involved in a bike versus car collision and was lucky enough to come away with my life . I sustained a serious injury to my right leg and eventually made the decision to amputate my leg a year later … Today I reflect on this day with serious gratitude as I get to remember valuable life experiences and memories I’ve been able to make along the way.. Making the decision to amputate my leg at the age of 15 wasn’t easy but hearing the stories of some incredible patients at the @pekewaihanga center inspired me to embrace the life ahead and give myself permission to live a life worth living.. I owe it all to my support networks for treating me normal and including me in everything.. 12 years on and feeling strong 🙏🏽✨ It’s always good to look back and reassure little Pete he made a good decision . Day 5 @spark_that_chat uncomfortable challenge 🛶 What a way to rip into day 5 of my 14 day uncomfortable challenge. Today was a mission long time coming with my brother @pcwaka over in his space. Waka ama, what an experience biig shout out Quade Crawford for lending me your boat and Pete for taking me out & teaching me a thing or 2. Even got wet 🤣🤣 The reason we have created this campaign at @spark_that_chat is because we know this is the simple antidote that is proven to work and help humans mental state. I know because I use uncomfortable training everyday to ground myself and clear the head + I’ve read books about it @tjpower 👊🏼 Absolutely STOKED to get after it, I’m keen to grow, keen to connect & see what the rad humans are cooking out there across the Bay that I will be uncomfortable with 🇳🇿🙌🏼 I’ll be filming & story telling my whole way through the challenge also promoting those I’m working with & how epic their mahi is. DAY 6 on @movement.hb see you soon 💪🏼 HIT THE LINK IN MY BIO to donate or sign yourself up right now!! #leadbydoing #sparkthatchat #stcuncomfortablechallenge #wakaama #mentalfitness by @pcwaka
Treated myself to an out of town cruisy paddle on the beautiful Lake Tūtira 😍 Location and weather were mint! The real bonus was getting to the water on my popsicle ahh. I do not condone excessive hopping as an amputee, ‘cause it’ll wreck your good leg quicker 🙂‍↕️ #wakaama #paracanoe #nz by @pcwaka
Today’s dish I tried to fluke is Leche Flan 🍮 ✨ Tried to see if it tastes decent before a future batch can leave the whare. As we say, “If you wing it, don’t bring it, until it’s tried, tested, and approved 😂 Recipe is in comments if you wanna wing it too 🤠👇🏽 by @pcwaka
WHY WE SHOULD ALL GET UNCOMFORTABLE 💪🏼 Our man @integrated.training aka Dave Wood saying it exactly how it is, letting us all know how important it is to get uncomfortable regularly and how you can shape your relationship with discomfort. Our crew @pcwaka @hughrenton @jackk_jensenn & @oscar.hetherington got amongst the wild west coast elements with the legends Dave Wood & @tekaiarahi getting to experience their incredible back yard of Piha beach. The lads took in some of the most powerful experiences & wisdom shared over the day. Pushing the mind & body on the beach, in the hills, meditating on a cliff face with heavy wind/rain & practicing staying in the blue zone when your mind/body gets triggered to see red. @spark_that_chat UNCOMFORTABLE Challenge is kicking off October 1st… you can go sign up & get a roll of momentum now. Race week completed 🛶🚀🔥✔️ Rounded up the campaign today with some honest mahi out there in the arena alongside the VL3 Brothers. Crossed the finish line 6th this time . Proud of the work we did this week as a team. It’s always a privilege to represent the wider team we have, as I’m only an extension of many who support me and my coach @myk2coach The goal is still the same, show up to the moments as authentic as possible and set the foundation for LA 2028. The icing will come when it’s meant to be. Thanks for supporting and checking in on us this week! It’s much appreciated. For now it’s rest and return to the whānau 🫶🏽 1st Pic : 📸 @axeldibert 2nd Pic : Throwback to 2019 when we last raced in Poznan 😆 #wakaama #paracanoe by @pcwaka
