Big thanks to our special guest poet, Jesse Sensibar, for spending some time with us last night in Cottonwood. We’re still thinking about his set, especially a poem entitled “Otherwise Intact.”
If you weren’t there, you missed out on Jesse’s performance, a spontaneous group poem by Roxy, Chris’s new hat, and much more.

Make sure to join us for the October 29 Pendemonium, “Night of the Living Dead Poets 2” — costumes encouraged! #poetry #spokenword #cottonwoodaz taken in Queen B Vinyl Cafe by @pendemoniumpoetry

Pendemonium is thrilled to bring Jesse Sensibar to Cottonwood for our Sept. 24th showcase. He is a warrior, a poet, and a storyteller who is not afraid to dance in public when the mood strikes him. He is a product of the mean streets of the greatest Midwestern industrial cities of a time now long gone; a place where the high court of street justice was between the curbs. He came west to the high desert in the late 1980s and quickly disappeared down the rabbit hole of Southwestern outlaw drug culture. He emerged from that hole in 2008; close to death and with a solid quarter century of hard drug abuse under his belt. He is both a seasoned veteran and a survivor of the War on Drugs. He has, needless to say, a great many regrets. Along the way he’s also worked legally as a mechanic, heavy equipment operator, strip club bouncer, repossession agent, tattoo shop owner, private investigator, tow truck driver, snow plow operator, wildland firefighter, and college English teacher.
These days, he’s retired from a great many things, but remains in love with language, family, citrus trees, the open road and the shrines, artifacts, and monuments to loss that litter it. He sees these things as reflections of his own damaged soul and scattered memory. He spends his time writing and promoting the art of both the written word and storytelling.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Jesse’s poetry at the Queen B Vinyl Café! Doors at 6 pm. $5 cover. Come early and get a bite and a coffee next door at the café! #poetry #poetsandwriters #pendemonium #cottonwoodaz taken in Queen B Vinyl Cafe by @pendemoniumpoetry

Another fun night of poetry in cottonwood last Thursday for @pendemoniumpoetry at @queenbvinylcafe.
In addition to local favorite Roxy Runyan, hosts Chris and Michelle invited an absolutely dynamite performer from back east and friend from Michelle's old slam days who brought down the house, @mr.mack88 promoting his new book. Go take a look on his page. Definitely one of my favorite poet performances I've seen on that stage so far!
I hope some of my pictures do it justice!

Hope to see you all again for the next Pendemonium on July 23rd! taken in Queen B Vinyl Cafe by @pendemoniumpoetry
