pheaturing @kappa.kaisenizakaya 🥢🍣

we ordered:
> otsukare set (chef’s choice) — RM98
2 drinks (can choose between beer, highball, two diff types of sake), 1 starter (tako wasabi), 2 kinds of sashimi (salmon & hamachi), 3 kinds of tempura (shrimp, white fish, and enoki mushroom)

> 8 kinds of sashimi — RM178
shrimp, ikura, salmon, akami, chutoro, otoro, white fish, hokigai

> chicken karaage (3 pieces) — RM18
> oyster fry (2 pieces) — RM18
> warabimochi — RM14

highlights ✨

🍣 true to the standards of sushinosuke, i thoroughly enjoyed the sashimi and found it especially nice that there was an option to torch (aburi) the sashimi when ordering!

the mochi was delightful and soft 🫶🏼 and the ambience imo was spot on ✨ we also made two new friends who sat next to us and they offered some of their shuto (salted & fermented fish liver) with cream cheese (it’s a starter) which was SO GOOD!!! while not pictured, I’m definitely getting that the next time 🥹

what was disappointing to me though was the tempura and fried options 🍤 Tempura was bland, batter was too soft and could be thinner. The matcha salt over the counter still made it enjoyable to eat though.

chicken karaage was extremely salty, will not recommend :( chicken was moist but just way too salty, i could barely take another bite without drinking my tea. Oyster fry was not the worst, but it was nothing to shout about either.

I would come back to try their sushi options which we missed out on, and would order the otsukare set again for the value! If you opt for the sake, it really is a bang for your buck considering you get a whole carafe (or 2! since you can order 2 drinks) 🍶 i’d recommend you to give it a try before bookings are filled 👀 by @pheat.pics

pheaturing @soma.cocktailsandwonders 🍸

we ordered:
> lick my salty *** — RM40
tequila reposado, grapefruit juice, passionfruit syrup, lemon

> rum tau fu fah — RM15
homemade soybean curd, dark rum, brown sugar

> yuzu sour — RM45
citrus oleo gin, triple sec, orange juice, yuzu puree, lemon, egg whites

> bailey’s & coffee — RM40
bailey’s, coffee, milk, caramel

highlights ✨

🥣 this is my 2nd time at soma, and i came back for the rum tau fu fah 🤍 loved it the first time around and i was craving it so i came again! a staple here at soma amongst regulars and i can see why :)

we’ve had quite a few drinks so far, and tbh the drinks are okay. i’ve definitely had better, but for the price of RM40, i thought these were a good try! and worth a visit if you haven’t been.

📣 also PSA: happy hour g&t and highball here is just RM18 (regular price is RM25) between 5-7 daily (incl weekends!!) + they have some very interesting infused gins so worth checking those out if you want to try something different 👀

overall, i would come back for the rum tau fu fah hehe <3 by @pheat.pics

pheaturing @binqdessert 🍧

we ordered
> pistachio bingsu — RM35

📞 calling all pistachio lovers!!! 🤤 this is my second time having Binq’s pistachio bingsu and I knew I had to feature it 🥹

the pistachio flavour really comes through sooo well and the genius thing about this is the pairing of the sides!!! they go so fantastically well with the pistachio bingsu 😭 binq just never fails to amaze me with how good and consistent they’ve been!!!! without a doubt, my fave bingsu place 🤍

I’m still having trouble deciding if my favourite is the roasted soybean oolong or this 🥹 they’re both sooo good HAHA HELP

if you have yet to try it, the pistachio bingsu is now available at all their outlets! toppings are fixed and can’t be changed, but TRUST me when I say you don’t need to because they pair SO well 😭 by @pheat.pics

pheaturing @namasteindiamalaysia 🍽️

we ordered:
> dahi puri — RM18
> paneer butter masala — RM28
> dom mutton biryani — RM35

highlights ✨ of this meal:

🧺 always love a free “bread” basket! papad was good, although i would say the mint chutney is an acquired taste, not one that my palette agrees with 😅 but my partner enjoyed it!

🥠 we started off with the dahi puri, which in my opinion was a huge HIT 🤤 the yogurt hits first adding a good balance of flavour between the fillings, and the spice kicks in in the end. LOVED this! 🫶🏼

🍚 the combination of the biryani rice and the butter masala is heaven!!! 🥹 mutton was tender and the gravy was fragrant. Definitely didn’t make the paneer feel jelak at all. The raita just tied everything together and made it bearable for me because my spice tolerance is soooo bad 😂

overall, i can’t believe it took me THIS long to try out this place!!! and i’m sooo happy i did :) by @pheat.pics

we ordered:
> today’s premium cut (aburi) — RM16 per nigiri
> today’s premium cut (raw) — RM16 per nigiri
> cured lean cut — RM15 per nigiri
> grilled wagyu claypot hitsumabushi — RM100
> mocchiri tofu — RM19
> radish with wagyu gravy sauce — RM16
> tail bone soup — RM60

Overall thoughts on this meal:

🥘 the ⭐️ for me was the wagyu claypot rice! despite the insane traffic during v day yesterday, the minute I took a waft of it, I thought I was in wagyu heaven 😂 you can have it either on its own, or with the tea/broth served (exactly like a hitsumabushi). Seaweed flakes are also given on the side for toppings. I prefer having a few bites on its own, and finishing it up with the tea/broth 🤤

🍣 nigiri we ordered were okay, nothing spectacular tbh, but if I had to pick a favourite, it would probably be the aburi one only bcs of the pairing with the daikon lel

🍮 the soymilk & cream cheese tofu was a peculiar choice lel I was expecting it to be…. jiggly 😂 Taste was ok, and it went particularly well with the wasabi! worth a try, but I wouldn’t order it again.

🥣 the radish with wagyu sauce was such a surprise to me! I actually really enjoyed this :) the grated yuzu made it a nice balance of flavour and it helped cut through the heaviness of the meal (all-wagyu meal 😂)

🍲 the tail bone soup was interesting, fragrant broth that was very heartwarming! I loved the homemade wagyu meatballs that came with it!

would return again to try different things :) by @pheat.pics

we ordered:
nomadic trails (10-course degustation menu for RM750++)

i came with expectations, and nadodi not only delivered, but they knocked it out of the park 😭

they say the first impression of a course meal is important because it sets the tone of how the rest of your meal would go; the welcome trio really blew me away and left me wanting seconds already in just the first bite! each starter was delicious and with strong memorable flavours. I couldn’t even pick a favourite because they were all that good 🥹

every course that followed after was also so strong — great presentation and flavour all around.

summarising highlights ✨ from this meal:
> welcome drink followed by the introduction to the entire experience was just such a zen start 🧘🏻‍♀️ 😂
> the welcome trio really left a strong first impression ⭐️
> i can have the cultured butter + maasi sambol 🧈 from grains will rule the world ALL day everyday 💯
> nomad’s globe was a journey of different sensations (cold + hot) and flavours in my mouth! Also love that you can get unlimited refills for the biryani rice 🍚
> both desserts were such a smashing finish! my favourite in particular was sour leaves because of how interesting the flavours were. Herbaceous but in such a good way. The play in textures was great!

Not really an area of improvement, but more so a personal preference - the broth in the mango muse perhaps not so much a flavour that I’d enjoy personally 😬

we also opted for cocktail pairings 🍸 — still contemplating if I should share this in a separate post 😂 drinks were from their bar, Ver, and cost RM240++ for 4 cocktails that paired with the course meal.

overall, despite the steep price, i personally felt the entire course and service made it worth it for me! I will 100% come back as they change their course menus seasonally :) by @pheat.pics

pheaturing @upkualalumpur 🍽️🍷

we ordered:
> gambas (RM38)
> angus flank (200gm — RM90)
> cheese kofte (RM34)
> lahmacun (RM32)
> ottoman kebab (RM34)
> beef manti (RM32)

the ⭐ for me was definitely the gambas! mind you, i am allergic to prawns 🍤 but it smelled so good that i risked my life to have a taste 😂 and it definitely delivered!!!!! paired sooo well with the bread too! we even ordered an extra serving of bread HAHA

🥩 Angus flank, can’t go wrong! cooked well (we requested for medium). Also available in 100gm for 48! frankly speaking, i thought the price was v reasonable!

🧀 Cheese kofte was okay, nothing spectacular. But I quite liked the Lahmacun, the toppings were flavourful and the flat bread was thin and crispy!

While the ottoman kebab looked a bit jelak, it definitely wasn’t (when shared amongst 3!). Not the prettiest looking dish, but the taste was great!

What was disappointing to me though… was the mini dumplings (manti). Felt simple, and not in a good way 🥲 just small balls of dough which you dip with sauce. Could barely taste the beef too. I recommend passing on this lol

Overall, i enjoyed my meal at Up and felt the place was cozy and romantic 😗 great for both date nights and also wine and dine session with friends. Prices are very reasonable, and while I didn’t have any drinks, word on the street is that their cocktails are good 👀 another must visit spot to add to your list! by @pheat.pics

pheaturing @barra.kl 🍽️

we ordered:
> hotate vieras (RM58)
> ensalada de burrata (RM58)
> meloso de ternera (RM92)
> bomba de barceloneta (RM32)

my favourite was definitely the scallops! juicy and perfectly cooked ✨ paired perfectly well with the braised oxtail and the leek crisps were just the cherry on top to give it texture.

the burrata salad was good too, i loved the pairing of the pine nuts in particular along with the burrata and dressing.

the beef cheeks was well cooked (medium temp) and went well with the sides. there was supposed to be tapioca chips on the side, but i felt they could have been a bit more generous with it to give each bite a bit more texture.

the breaded potato ball was okay, good try! but might not order again just so i can try other things 🤔

overall, it’s a lovely place for a date night or a chill get together with friends! Food is great, although I will say, portions are quite small, especially at this price point. Will visit again for special occasions :) by @pheat.pics

pheaturing @leens.kl 🍽️

we ordered:
> smoked hummus (RM29)
> haloumi fattoush (RM35)
> short ribs (RM83)

best. hummus. in. town!!! no questions asked 💯
the smokey flavour just makes you go back for seconds! crispy and fluffy bread that paired amazingly well with it too! 🤤

haloumi fattoush was a refreshing appetiser with heirloom tomatoes 🍅 kyuri 🥒 haloumi 🧀 olives 🫒 & spring onion oil dressing 🥗 would order again!

short ribs was great too, nothing special but staple flavours that can’t go wrong! 🥩

highly recommended! especially the hummus, i beg you pls get it HAHA by @pheat.pics

pheaturing @broth_by_beefbowl 🍜

we ordered:
> australian sliced beef noodle (RM26)
> add on braised beef (RM7)

The broth undoubtedly was the highlight ✨ of this entire meal! Rich and deep flavour, super yum! Beef slices and braised beef were tender and easy to eat. I also loved the radish that was soaked in the broth 🤤

Price point was on the higher end for a beef noodle spot, but overall it was a good meal :) by @pheat.pics
