After the City / Nach der Stadt

Die Gruppenausstellung versteht ländliche und städtische Räume gleichermaßen als Orte der Sehnsucht, Projektion und Zuflucht. Mit über 50 Arbeiten von 18 Künstler*innen wird untersucht, wie Identität, Macht, Raum und Natur verhandelt werden, wenn Stadt und Land nicht als getrennte Welten gegeneinander antreten, sondern als unterschiedliche, aber durchlässige Lebensräume miteinander verwoben sind. Malerei, Zeichnung, Skulptur, Fotografie und Video erstrecken sich über das Gutshaus, den ehemaligen Kornspeicher und den Garten auf dem Gelände von Gut Kerkow in der Uckermark. Ausgewählte Gut-Kerkow-Filialen in Berlin bilden satellitenartige Erweiterungen, um Metropole und Provinz künstlerisch zu verbinden.

The group exhibition approaches both rural and urban spaces as sites of longing, projection, and refuge. Bringing together more than 50 works by 18 artists, the exhibition explores how identity, power, space, and nature are negotiated when city and countryside are understood not as opposing worlds, but as distinct yet interconnected and permeable living environments. Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and video unfold across the grounds of the Gut Kerkow estate, with its manor house, former granary, and garden. Selected Gut Kerkow shops in Berlin serve as satellite extensions, creating an artistic connection between metropolis and province.

Featuring works by Rebekka Benzenberg, Catherina Cramer & Sabine Bremer, Jesse Darling, Sharona Franklin, Sitara Abuzar Ghaznawi, Louis Hay, Abi Palmer, Benoît Piéron, and Lyndsey Walsh.

Sick Days reflects on (chronic) illness, care, and those days of intimate experiences of the body and their (in)visibility. By exploring notions of ‚Crip Time‘, the group exhibition questions the concept of productivity, and rethinks the relationship between living (with disability), artistic labour, and societal expectations of healing.

The exhibition is supported by the Pankow Borough Office – Office of Continuing Education and Culture.
