My client Heather came to one of our calls frustrated. She was doing the work. Building relationships, staying consistent, all the stuff I teach. And the auditions still weren't showing up the way she wanted.

When we dug into it, the problem wasn't her outreach. It was her calendar. Every day was packed to the edges. There was no room for an audition to land, so when one did come in, it felt like an interruption to her day instead of the point of it.

Her only homework was to clear space. Within two weeks she was getting more auditions, and not long after that she booked her first TV co-star on This Is Us.

I'm not saying a calendar block is magic. I'm saying there's something revealing about asking for more auditions while building a week that has no room for them. Here's a question for you: if an audition came in tomorrow at 10am, where would it actually go?

This clip walks you through the “audition buffer,” exactly how I teach it inside The Table. Power hours are one of the core habits we build inside The Table, and they're always the thing actors tell me they can't believe they weren't doing sooner. Two hours. That's it. The results over a quarter are genuinely wild.

A few years into my career, I could tell you exactly how many auditions I'd done that year, which offices kept calling me in, and what I wore. Not because I have a great memory (because I don’t lol). I wrote it all down.

Most actors are running their careers on… vibes.🤷🏾‍♀️ You FEEL like you're auditioning less than last year, but you're not sure. You FEEL like one office loves you, but you couldn't name the last three projects they called you in for. You FEEL like something's off, but you’re not *exactly* sure why, so that feeling just turns into dread and negativity.

Here's a question for you: if I asked how you got your three strongest auditions last year, could you answer? Through your rep? A relationship? A self-submission? That one answer tells you where to put your energy next, and most of us have no idea.
Nobody calls to tell you why you didn’t book (or at least not regularly). But you don't have to wait for feedback that's never coming. You can collect your own. Even the auditions you didn't book gave you something.

Logging the audition is the first of five things I do after every single one. Comment YOUTUBE for the full Powerhouse Conversation on my complete audition ritual. The Table is where we read your tracker together so the patterns actually turn into a plan. by @powerhouseactor

This sits right between the weekly check-in and the quarterly plan. Inside The Table, we do all three, and the monthly review is honestly the one that catches the most blind spots. Try it once and see what comes up.

Comparison is one of those things we treat like a mindset problem when it's usually a clarity problem. Inside The Table, when actors get clear on their plan and can actually see their own momentum, the comparison noise gets so much quieter on its own.

At the end of last month, did you sit down for thirty minutes and look at what you actually did versus what you planned to do?

If that question doesn't even make sense because you didn't have a plan to compare it to, that's the whole problem right there.

Most actors approach their careers month to month in reaction mode. Something comes up, they respond to it. A breakdown looks interesting, they submit. They feel guilty about not doing enough, they update their website for two hours. But there's no rhythm to any of it. No structure. No way to tell whether this month was better than last month in any measurable way.

The actors who build real momentum aren't doing more. They're doing specific things on a recurring schedule that compounds over time. One industry event per month, scheduled in advance. One materials check with fresh eyes. One honest review of what worked and what didn't. These aren't huge time commitments. They're small practices that turn random effort into a system that actually gets smarter every month.

That's the difference between a one-time burst of motivation and an actual practice. This clip breaks down exactly what goes on that monthly calendar.

Every single one of the nine industry pros in my free guide, Inside the Room, started before they felt ready. Not one of them waited for fear to disappear. They just decided to act anyway. Their stories and outreach strategies are in the guide.

You open Instagram because you know you're supposed to post something. You stare at the empty caption box like, what am I supposed to post today. A selfie feels boring. A headshot feels like you’re trying too hard. You have zero desire to do the trending audio/recent tik tok trend. And you think: "I became an actor. When did I sign up to be a content creator?"

Then you close the app and post nothing. Again.

That resistance is not laziness or whatever, I think it's good instincts. Because the version of social media you're dreading, the daily posting, the trend chasing, the performing for an algorithm, is exhausting AND it's mostly not even what works for us actors.

In this episode of Powerhouse Conversations, I teach a completely different model. Why your actual job on social media is to be findable, credible, and connected (none of which require posting daily). How to think about this as a party. And the five collaboration strategies that grow your audience through relationships instead of grinding, including the full story of the day I took over a bestselling author's Instagram and what it did for me.

You don't need to go viral! You need the right people to know your name so you can build relationships from there. by @powerhouseactor

I sent out New Year's postcards this year. Actual physical mail. To casting directors, producers, people I'd worked with or wanted to work with.

And I've had more auditions from people on that list than I did the entire year before I sent them.

People think mail is dead. Which is exactly why it works. Nobody's doing it, which means when something shows up with your name on it, handwritten, personal, it gets noticed in a way that another email in a full inbox never will.

That's a power move. It took me an afternoon. And it produced more results than months of scrolling breakdowns.

This clip walks through what daily power moves actually look like. Making one phone call (scary, five minutes, wildly effective). Doing one personal reach out per day from a rolling list. Sending something physical. These are small, specific, and most of them take less time than the hour you just spent on Actors Access.

And here's the part that's going to sting a little. If you don't time-box your paper pushing, it will expand to fill every minute you have. And you'll never get to the power moves. Not because you're lazy. Because the paper pushing is comfortable and the power moves require you to be seen.

This one might make some people uncomfortable, and that's kind of the point. Inside The Table, part of what we do is help each other see the blind spots. Because the comfort zones we can't identify on our own are always the most detrimental ones.

Think about what you did for your career yesterday. Whatever it was, I want you to ask yourself one question.

Was there a human being on the other end of it?

If the answer is no, you were paper pushing. And I’m not saying that to make you feel bad about it. Updating your website, editing your reel, reorganizing your resume, scrolling casting breakdowns for an hour? All of that stuff needs to happen. It’s real work. But none of it, on its own, moves your career forward. Because none of it involves another person.

A power move is different. A power move means someone received something from you. You reached out. You shared your work. You showed up in a room. You made contact with an actual human being who can impact your career in some way.

And here’s what I’ve noticed. Most actors spend about 90% of their “career time” on paper pushing and maybe 10% on power moves. Sometimes less. Because paper pushing is comfortable. You can do it at midnight in your pajamas and nobody can reject you.

Power moves require you to be seen. And that’s scarier. So we avoid them without even realizing we’re avoiding them.
