To my god baby -

I knew when I came to pick you up, we’d have fun. Of course. I didn’t know how much this trip for you would change me. Between the adventures, the laughter, the messy little faces, the endless pictures, and the moments you fell asleep in my arms, somewhere along the way I realized that you were giving me just as much as I was trying to give you. I hope when you look back at these pictures someday, you see how happy you were. How safe you felt. How loved you’ve always been.

And I hope you know that while I was busy making memories for you, you were giving me some of my favorite ones, too.

Today I took Zuri out to the countryside to meet my auntie and spend some time on her little farm. 🌿🤎

I wanted her to experience a different side of Jamaica. Not just the beaches and pretty views, but the slower mornings, the land, the animals, and the people who make this place feel like home to me.

Auntie welcomed her like she’d known her forever, and baby, Zuri wasted NO time making herself comfortable. 😂

We started with the goats, and from there she was on a mission. She collected fresh eggs from the chicken coop, fed carrots to the donkey, and absolutely fell in love with the rabbits. Every time I turned around, she was asking about another animal.

Watching her little face light up over the simplest things was probably my favorite part of bringing her here.

There’s something special about watching a child experience the world without needing much from it. Just a little curiosity, some sunshine, a few animals, and somebody willing to let them explore.

We left with dusty shoes, a hundred questions, and enough stories to last the whole ride home.

I think Auntie has herself a new favorite visitor. And judging by how Zuri was talking about those animals, I already know we’ll be back.😂 by @pressuree.sl

& if you ask me if I would have done this on my own I would tell you HELL NO. I’m terrified of elephants but on her list of things to do this was number one 🙄 so here we are. I only let her sit on the baby one because I was afraid she’d fall. She clearly wasn’t worried at all lol by @pressuree.sl

Auntie introduced me to an elder in the community. A woman who lives quietly, grows much of what she needs, and carries generations of knowledge about plants, roots, and traditional remedies.

What started as a visit turned into hours of listening, learning, and asking questions. And eventually, she started teaching me.

I’ve been learning to recognize plants, prepare herbs, and understand the traditions behind the things she makes. More importantly, she’s teaching me patience. To listen before I speak. To observe before I touch. To understand that not everything worth knowing comes from a book.

So I’ve started building a little apothecary of my own.

I’m still a student. And something tells me I’ve barely scratched the surface. 🌱 by @pressuree.sl

Leaving home started to feel lonely. I had a rough night last night… I was feeling incredibly homesick. This little guy found me on the beach and followed me all the way home. They say when cats find you, it’s on purpose. So I cleaned him up. And gave him a name. Say hi to Yin. I guess ima cat mom now. #secondlife by @pressuree.sl
