Add the sliced onions and cook for 20–25 minutes, stirring regularly, until deeply golden and caramelized. Add a splash of beef broth if the onions begin sticking. Set aside and let them cool slightly. 3. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, onion powder, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until combined, without compacting the meat too much. 4. Shape the mixture into a thick rectangular loaf on the prepared baking tray. Bake for approximately 35–40 minutes. 5. Remove the meatloaf from the oven and carefully spoon some of the caramelized onions over the top. Sprinkle with Gruyère or Swiss cheese and mozzarella, then arrange the remaining onions over the cheese. 6. Return the meatloaf to the oven for another 10–15 minutes, until the cheese has melted and the center reaches 160°F (71°C). 7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps the juices settle and keeps the slices together. 8. Garnish with fresh thyme and spoon any pan juices over the top before serving. Pair with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a simple green salad. ............................................. Want 30 more viral high-protein recipes like this?
