Please join the Boilermaker community in welcoming Mark Lundstrom as the new John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering.

A @purdue.ece faculty member for 46 years, Lundstrom is a National Academy of Engineering member, founder of @nanohubnews and one of the world's leading figures in semiconductor device physics.

He previously served as acting dean in 2020 and interim dean from 2022–2023, bringing deep institutional knowledge and a clear vision to the role.

CLIMBING THE RANKS: Purdue Engineering's graduate program is now ranked No. 4 in the nation, behind only MIT, Stanford and UC Berkeley.

Our ascension is outlined in the @usnews list of the best graduate engineering schools, released this week.

We've also risen to the No. 2 spot among public institutions, with three of our specialties in the Top 5 and eight in the Top 10.

She chose Purdue. Purdue let her fly. ✈️

On #AmeliaEarhartDay, Purdue Engineering is celebrating the iconic aviator, pioneer and Boilermaker.

In 1935, Earhart joined the faculty, specifically choosing Purdue because it was the only U.S. university with its own fully equipped airport. Purdue funded the Lockheed Electra 10E "flying laboratory" that made her world-flight attempt possible.

She never came back. But her legacy lives on at Earhart Residence Hall, the new Amelia Earhart Terminal at Purdue Airport and the generations of engineers she inspired.

Three months ago, Purdue Engineering announced the inaugural Neil Armstrong Space Prize laureates.

Lars Blackmore, Shana Diez, Jon Edwards, Yoshiaki Kuwata and Eduardo Velazquez will receive the prize for their cutting-edge work on the @spacex Falcon 9 vertical landing capability, fundamentally changing the launch vehicle landscape.

On #InternationalMoonDay — recognizing Neil Armstrong's first steps on the lunar surface — nominations are now open for those whose contributions to space in the preceding decade have been most consequential for humanity.

Happy birthday to one of the most iconic spots @lifeatpurdue! 🎂

On July 17, 1989, nearly 5,000 Boilermakers packed the Purdue Mall for the "Great Fountain Turn-On" — the debut of what we all know as the Engineering Fountain.

A gift from the Class of 1939 commemorating their 50th reunion, the 38-foot-tall landmark was designed by Indiana sculptor Robert Youngman, who sketched the original concept on a napkin over coffee at the Purdue Memorial Union.

37 years later, it's still the heart of campus. Still the backdrop for graduation photos, fountain runs and lazy afternoons in the sun. 🚂

As #InternationalMoonDay approaches, meet the Boilermaker helping lead humanity's return. Scott Tingle (@astro_maker), a @purdue.me alum, Purdue's 23rd astronaut and @nasa's Chief of the Astronaut Office, oversaw the Artemis II mission that sent four astronauts around the Moon in April 2026.

"When those rockets light up..." he says, starting to tear up. "Those are my friends on that vehicle."

Neil Armstrong took the first step. Gene Cernan took the last. And now, Boilermakers like Scott Tingle are leading the charge to go back for good.

The semiconductor workforce gap is a global problem. @lifeatpurdue is building a global solution.

Purdue is launching the Semiconductor Academy, developed in partnership with National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, to give learners insight into both domestic and international semiconductor ecosystems from world-class faculty on two continents.

Also new: the Semiconductor Advanced Engineering series — a set of flexible 15-hour courses designed to translate Purdue’s academic expertise into accessible learning experiences for working professionals.

"I felt like I was reading a little bit of my own story."

Ava Flynn discovered the Tyler Trent Award while searching for scholarships. The more she learned about Tyler Trent, the more she saw herself in him: a young person who refused to let cancer write the ending.

Flynn lost her mother to a rare cancer at 12. In high school, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma during the COVID-19 pandemic. She persisted, came to @purduebme, studied abroad in Spain, conducted heart regeneration research in France, and earned the 2025 Tyler Trent Courage and Resilience Award.

This summer she returns to France for research and will serve as a counselor at Camp Kesem, the same camp that supported her as a child when her mom was sick.

Engineering the future means engineering for the planet. 🌱

@purduesee and @lifeatpurdueonline are launching two new master's degrees: one focused on sustainable systems and life cycle thinking; the other on energy-efficient building design and smart building operations.

Both are built for working professionals, fully online, and grounded in the kind of multidisciplinary thinking that the National Academy of Engineering calls one of the defining challenges of our time.
