I’ve recently discovered the old Ted Reed books. Gold! If I did work through any of them while I was younger, I have no memory…

This is me taking lines from his book Syncopation and just moving things around the kit.

Testing out this Beefy Boy! 🥩

Vintage 8x15 @slingerlanddrums Concert King. Trying it with some monster sticks from @thirdfloorbazaar and @vicfirth . I’ll keep messing with the tuning, etc, but it’s fun to play!

Interesting mix of rep this week. Come check it out tomorrow night!

These 18” Klassich cymbals from @zildjiancompany are amazing! Perfect for some Bald Mountain crashes. 💪

Got to test ride (for me) some vintage @zildjiancompany Avedis cymbals from my former teacher. They did not disappoint! Also enjoyed playing my @bartondrumco kit with a vintage @slingerlanddrums snare! Good music and good company all around!

Not 100% happy with this sorcery, but trying out the alternating at the end. I think I like it, if I can consistently hit the right notes!

Also trying out these mallets from @promarksticks !

Practice Challenge: Day 2/100

It seems backwards, but I’ve been doing most of my pad work at night and practicing my rep during the day. 🤷‍♂️ Really loving these Bluetooth headphones from @vicfirth !

Ben is doing the practice challenge with me. So far we’re both on a roll! 2 days! Woo!

Working a section from John Adams’s piece, The Dharma at Big Sur. Trying to make it feel like everything is landing where it is supposed to, while freaking out inside…🫠

Sometimes my practice time comes at 11pm when everyone goes to bed…so drum pad it is!

Working through some of the exercises at the end of Stick Control. I use this book more than any other. It’s the best!
