Every journey begins with a first step.

At QMS, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to discover what they are capable of and to explore where their journey might lead.

The Annual Fund helps make those moments possible, going beyond what tuition covers to support exceptional programs, transformative experiences, and meaningful learning opportunities that help students turn their aspirations into reality.

This year, we invite you to be part of the journey.

Your support helps open doors, expand possibilities, and empower students to take their next steps with confidence.

From October 7–9, our Grade 10 students embarked on an outdoor education adventure at Pacheedaht Campground in Port Renfrew, marking an exciting milestone in the development of QMS’s internal outdoor education program.

Over three days, students set up camp, shared meals, explored the intertidal ecosystems of Botanical Beach and hiked the rugged Juan de Fuca coastline. Along the way, they practiced independence, teamwork and resilience while strengthening their connections with one another and the natural world.

The adventure brought an unexpected challenge on the final night, when a powerful coastal storm swept through the campground. With wind and rain threatening their tents, some students found themselves awake in the darkness, holding down tent poles to keep their shelters standing. By morning, sunshine returned, along with a renewed appreciation for the experience.

These moments are what make outdoor education so meaningful. When things do not go as planned, students discover their capacity to adapt, persevere and support one another.

This inaugural trip laid an exciting foundation for future Grade 10 adventures, providing opportunities to build confidence, deepen relationships and develop skills that extend far beyond the classroom. We look forward to growing this meaningful part of the QMS experience.

For alumna Amanda Elliott (1997-2002), choosing Queen Margaret’s School for her daughter, Aubrey, is an opportunity to share a meaningful part of her own story.

From playing saxophone in band and competing on the field hockey team to serving as a St. Hugh’s House Captain and exploring the forest with friends, Amanda’s QMS years were filled with experiences that extended well beyond the classroom.

Now, she is excited for Aubrey to discover the same opportunities to learn, explore and grow while creating her own special memories and traditions.

“The commute is well worth it for the opportunity to have her attend a school that offers a strong academic program, outdoor learning, art, music, a variety of sports teams, and a meaningful commitment to community service,” Amanda shares.

We are delighted to welcome another generation of her family to QMS and look forward to seeing Aubrey’s story unfold.

31 years of community, compassion, and giving back.

Our Annual Food Chain brings the QMS community together to show our Cowichan Valley neighbours that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

Here’s a look back at the past decade of a tradition rooted in gratitude and a shared commitment to supporting our community.

What does it take to launch a successful business? For students in QMS’s brand-new Entrepreneurship Café class, the answer came through hands-on experience.

As part of the course, student teams took part in their own Dragon’s Den, pitching ideas for the name, branding and business model of the new student café.

For Olivia W. (’27), who plans to pursue post-secondary studies in marketing, the experience offered valuable insight into the world she hopes to enter.

“It definitely gave me first-hand experience standing in front of powerful people judging my ideas. I have done plenty of public speaking before, but this is different... knowing they are directly paying attention to me and my proposal.”

The experience also taught Olivia the importance of knowing your material and being able to adapt.

“Winging it can work if you at least know the content you are presenting.”

Olivia was especially interested in the marketing and branding side of the project, discovering that even small details can be intentional strategies used to connect with consumers.

“While researching, I actually found that even small things I didn’t think were marketing strategies were specific tactics used to target consumers.”

Through Entrepreneurship Café, Olivia is gaining more than classroom knowledge. She’s building confidence, learning to think on her feet and getting a firsthand look at the business and marketing world she hopes to pursue.

This is learning by doing, and it’s just getting started.

During Week of Gratitude at QMS, we are celebrating the people who help make a difference in the lives of our students. Today, we are grateful for donors like Andrea, whose reason for giving comes from her own experience as a QMS parent.

“My name is Andrea, and I am a mum of an amazing girl who was fortunate enough to receive an incredible education here at QMS. It provided her with a tremendous, studious work ethic that she is successfully applying towards her Bachelor’s Degree in Science.”

Andrea worked hard as an Early Childhood Educator and also gave her time to the QMS community by volunteering at the school.

“I volunteered at the school to give thanks and become more involved in the school community. And it is with humble gratitude that I give thanks for the support and generosity from other community donors that ensured my daughter’s success to thrive and become a lifelong learner.”

Today, Andrea chooses to give monthly, helping create opportunities for another student to experience the same sense of support and possibility.

“This is why I choose to give what I can monthly; so that another deserving child can feel special and supported in their educational journey.”

During this Week of Gratitude, we are thankful for Andrea and for every donor who chooses to give back to QMS. Your generosity helps students feel supported, discover their potential and thrive on their own unique journey.

Thank you for helping grow a culture of generosity at QMS.

What happens when one person’s idea inspires a whole community? This week at QMS, we saw just how much is possible through Tour de Rock.

Prefects, Olivia W. (’27) and Madison W. (’27), reflected on the Tour de Rock initiative and how incredible it is to see one person’s dream grow when others choose to join in.

From Civvies Day, Sundae sales and the Primary Book Sale to our 24-hour Cycle-A-Thon, students, families and staff found so many ways to support Tour de Rock.

On Tuesday, the Tour de Rock team rode onto campus, giving us the chance to celebrate what we accomplished together: more than $10,000 raised for Cops for Cancer and Camp Goodtimes.

Every donation, book purchased, sundae enjoyed and minute cycled helped make a difference.

Thank you, QMS, for coming together to support this incredible initiative.

We stand united with the Indigenous peoples of Canada as we continue our shared journey toward truth and reconciliation.

Today, we pause to reflect, to listen, to learn, and to take meaningful action toward equality and understanding.

We are deeply grateful to our friends and neighbours of the Halalt First Nation for sharing their stories, songs, and dances with us. Your generosity, teachings, and traditions remind us of the importance of listening, learning, and walking together.

With respect, gratitude, and a commitment to reconciliation. 🧡
