Our THIRD Halloween Hoopla is coming up on Saturday, October 24, from 10 am to 2 pm at the bookstore! One of the best events of the year in my humble opinion. Get in a costume and come grab Halloween books and decorate pumpkins and hear a spooky storytime!! Everything free as always. Pumpkins ARE provided but in limited quantity. Magic Tree House Day was a huge success! Over 35 kids came out Saturday, October 10, to help Jack and Annie restore the lost information about endangered animals. We planned tons of activities for this one, and it seems everyone had a blast and got to walk away with 3 brand new Magic Tree House books. And -- most importantly -- Tortellini, an 18 year old turtle, made her special appearance! by @readingreadypittsburgh

The fun never stops around here! Check out these stellar October events coming up. Always free all the time!! 1) A big ol' Magic Tree House Day on Saturday, October 10, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Snacks, activities, fact finding fun, and BRAND NEW Magic Tree House books. 2) Our third Halloween Hoopla is on Saturday, October 24, from 10 am to 2 pm. WOW! What a time at our Literacy Under the Lights on the Steel Valley High School football field. Over 160 children came out with their families over the course of our 2.5 hours. Stories were read and heard, crafts were crafted, tons of brand new books given away. So many wonderful moments that are impossible to completely capture and share, but we're gonna try! Here is the first post of 2 -- this one with the landscape photos, next post with the portrait photos. Thank you so much for making this such a great success. In pittsburgh momma fashion. THIS is a place I simply cannot gatekeep! If you have a little reader, put this Pittsburgh spot on your list. B Is For Books in Homestead is a completely FREE children’s bookstore where every child can choose 3 books to take home with them at every visit. No purchase, no admission, just books to build their home library. Not only do they support children but they truly support the mothers. They have a small adult section (also free) & With their award winning breastfeeding room that’s fully stocked , it’s obvious that they truly appreciate moms and deserve to be recognized ❤️ It felt especially fitting to share this today, September 25, as Pennsylvania recognizes Dolly Parton Day and September is National Early Literacy Month. Reading Ready Pittsburgh, which operates B Is For Books, also helps bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to local children, sending enrolled kids a free book every month. B Is For Books is at 222 E. 8th Avenue in Homestead. Save this one ! We made a whole day out of it. The waterfront has so much to offer and this store is a must visit each time we’re in the area! by @readingreadypittsburgh
