👻 What a spooktacular success! 👻

Squirrel Hill Academy’s Trunk or Treat was a BOO-tiful success! 🧡 Thank you to everyone who came out, decorated, and helped make the event so special for our families and community.

A special thank you to @readingreadypittsburgh for generously donating books for our trick-or-treaters! We’re so grateful for community partners who help make literacy fun and bring a little extra magic to our events.

📚 **Sometimes, supporting a child’s mental health starts with something as simple as a book.**

At Integrity Psychological Services, we spend a lot of time talking about the things that help children and teens feel confident, connected, understood, and capable of navigating the world around them.

Reading can be part of that foundation.

Books give children opportunities to learn new words for big feelings. They help children see themselves in someone else’s story, understand perspectives different from their own, and sometimes find comfort in a character who is going through something they recognize.

A child who struggles with reading can also struggle with confidence, school, friendships, and emotional regulation. And not every child grows up with a home full of books or easy access to them.

That’s one of the reasons we love the work being done by **Reading Ready Pittsburgh**. Their mission is helping put books into the hands of children and families throughout our community—because access to books is about so much more than academics.

It’s about giving kids opportunities to learn, imagine, connect, and grow. ❤️

We’re proud to support an organization that understands that **helping children thrive means looking at the whole child.**

📖 One book. One child. One little moment of connection at a time.

In the last month, @wontyoubeareaderpgh hosted two special events - a night for communities to come together in celebration of reading under the bright lights of local football fields, called “Literacy Under the Lights”. Executed by @readingreadypittsburgh and @rifpittsburgh, these events featured free @scholastic Book Fairs, read aloud times, crafts, mascots, football players, cheerleaders, Pittsburgh Steelers stars, and more. Grateful to all our partners for making both nights an incredible success!

In pittsburgh momma fashion. THIS is a place I simply cannot gatekeep! If you have a little reader, put this Pittsburgh spot on your list. B Is For Books in Homestead is a completely FREE children’s bookstore where every child can choose 3 books to take home with them at every visit. No purchase, no admission, just books to build their home library. Not only do they support children but they truly support the mothers. They have a small adult section (also free) & With their award winning breastfeeding room that’s fully stocked , it’s obvious that they truly appreciate moms and deserve to be recognized ❤️

It felt especially fitting to share this today, September 25, as Pennsylvania recognizes Dolly Parton Day and September is National Early Literacy Month. Reading Ready Pittsburgh, which operates B Is For Books, also helps bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to local children, sending enrolled kids a free book every month.

B Is For Books is at 222 E. 8th Avenue in Homestead. Save this one ! We made a whole day out of it. The waterfront has so much to offer and this store is a must visit each time we’re in the area!

If you have a child under 5 in Pittsburgh, you need to know about this. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library sends children a FREE book every month from birth through age 5, and there’s no income requirement. Every child living in the City of Pittsburgh is eligible, along with children in 20 additional ZIP codes throughout Allegheny County. And this Friday, September 25 is Dolly Parton Day!

B Is for Books in Homestead is celebrating from 9 AM–3 PM with a Dolly Parton event, and every child who attends will get THREE free books. You can also learn more about the Imagination Library and get your child enrolled by visiting their website. Free books delivered to your child is a whole experience that can jumpstart a lifetime of learning & loving to read. This is one of those programs I really want more Pittsburgh families to know about 🍎✏️✨📚

This fall, you can honor the life and legacy of Dolly Parton at a farm not too far from Pittsburgh. @ironsmillfarmstead is celebrating Dolly and her Imagination Library with a themed corn maze in New Wilmington. Even better, a portion of proceeds supports the nonprofit’s mission to put books into the hands of young readers.

You ate gelato. Now kids get books.

Today happens to be International Literacy Day, which feels like the perfect day to share what came out of our Dolly Parton Weekend.

We wanted to use what we do best - making creative, from-scratch flavors - to celebrate someone who used her own creativity to do a lot of good.

And Pittsburgh, you did not disappoint. Because of you, Butterfat is donating $440 to Reading Ready Pittsburgh, supporting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library right here in our community.

At $40 to provide books to one child for an entire year, that’s the equivalent of books for 11 local kids.

Getting to make things we love and have them do a little good at the same time is exactly what we want Butterfat to be.

Thank you for eating the gelato, embracing the glitter, and helping us give back.
