Hello friends.... I decided to start a book Instagram account to share my rediscovered love of reading. I'll use this page to share reviews good 👍and bad 👎 of books I've read as I continue on my reading journey. Follow along for books reviews, usually with a glass of wine 🍷 and probably photos of my adorable rescue hound 🐶 Marty. If you're reading something you love, please send along recommendations! ❤️ by @readingwithrosemary

Did you know that the @rutherfordlibrary has special art classes for adults? This week @thestudio75a taught a painting class using a canvas bag, a “book bag” if you will.
•
Heading to the schedule page at RutherfordLibrary.org to see all the other awesome classes, speaking engagements, and presentations they have coming up!

📚Book Review 📚 nothing like cozying up for a journey through dark academia with one of my favorite fantasy, sci-fi authors R.F. Kuang and her work Katabasis 📕🔥 little Gus 🐶 liked it, too. Review below!
.
Katabasis by R.F. Kuang
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A great dark fantasy thriller from Kuang. Story follows the story eager magician Alice Law. After an overworked and stressful evening she finds herself mapping a quest to hell to right her wrongs. But Alice isn’t alone. Her magic rival Peter Murdoch tags along. The story follows their journey to the underworld to find answers and maybe learn what life is really all about it. A great story with so much depth, this one was a real thinker.

📚Book Review📚 When the sea gives you back your song, American Fantasy by Emma Straub is the light hearted, self discovery story we all need (especially boy band fans)🚢🎶 Review below 👇
.
American Fantasy by Emma Straub
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The American Fantasy cruise ship is any boy band fans dream. Setting sail on a four day cruise with hundreds of screaming fans, the members of Boy Talk set sail for a week at sea with their biggest Talkers. But our leading lady Annie feels totally out of sync. What was a girls trip for her and her sister - the mega fan- turns into a solo sail for the recent divorcee. But when Annie finds herself face to face with her childhood crushes, she can’t help but let loose. A story of reinventing yourself, finding your way and self growth this quick, fun and light read is a delight. Thank you to Goodreads, Riverhead Books and Penguin Random House for the advanced copy reader!

If you’re a fan of Daisy Jones & The Six, or anything that this one is for you.

Getting snowed in is basically the universe telling us to read 📖❄️
If your prepping for the storm, here are 4 books I’d happily reread during a winter weekend:

🤍 The Favorites by Layne Fargo
One of my five star reads! Taking place in Chicago and LA, it brings star-crossed lovers vibes mixed with thrills and chills. Also, it will psych you up for the Winter Olympics.

🤍 The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon
Inspired by true events of a midwife in 1700s Maine, nothing like reading about a cold winter murder during a snow storm.

🤍 The Wedding People by Alison Espach
A winding road of discovery and hope, it’s the surprisingly dark story of what happens when you think your life is over but you find yourself in the middle of a wedding in Rhode Island.

🤍 Lady Tan’s Circle of Women by Lisa See
Set in 1400s China, this is a tale of friendship, tragedy and hope, following a family of female doctors forging their own path.

Pick these up on your Libby app today so you can cozy up this weekend ⛄ @libby.app (and thanks to @bookofthemonth )

👻Spooky Reviews = The Perfect Halloween Treat🎃Just finished This Book Will Bury Me by Ashley Winstead and it delivered the chills and late-night-page-turning energy I needed. ✨

💬 Have you read this one yet — or do you have a favorite dark, twisty read? Read my review below 👇

This Book will Bury Me by Ashley Winstead
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I always love a good thriller. This story follows college student Jane Sharp who pulls out of school after her father’s untimely death. Looking for an escape, Jane becomes obsessed with true crime and becomes a part of online murder boards, befriending a group of unlikely internet sleuths. When the news of a shocking murder of college students hits the boards, Jane and her rag-tag bunch decide to set out on a mission to solve the case. Little did they know how deeply involved - and integral to the case- they would become. Wait till you get to the end of this book ?!?! Wow is all I will say with twists and turns I didn’t see coming !

📚Book review ⭐️ Finally finished my 2025 challenge of completing the entire ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas! 🧚 Five books later and what felt like four million pages, this series did not disappoint! If you like dystopian/fantasy, it’s worth the commitment (and perfect for summer reading). ☀️
Check out my thoughts on the series below:
.
Good news: the books totally hook you into this fantasy world and you will be addicted to find out what happens. The characters are complex and loveable/hateable, the world is crafted so well you can picture it as your reading, the various storylines keep you reading. And yes, there is smut.

Bad news: IMO some books are better (quicker paced, lots of action) than others (loved Mist and Fury, could have done without Frost and Starlight), book 5 threw me for a loop and I REALLY hope there is another book still in the works as I need more closure!

📚Book review 👀 The Wedding People by Alison Espach was such a surprise home run read and I have SO many thoughts! Review below 🥂

Have you read this one yet? Let’s chat in the comments! ⬇️ If not, what’s the best book you’ve read lately? 🤔

The Wedding People by Alison Espach
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A surprisingly dark contemporary fiction story of what happens when you think your life is over. Phoebe Stone is done with her scholarly life in St Louis. Dealing with a failed marriage, she takes off to the famous Cornwall Inn in Rhode Island, a place she has dreamed of visiting. Upon arriving she is greeted by a chaotic wedding party who is taking over the hotel for a week. The story throws depressed Phoebe into this cast of characters ready for a celebration while she is here for salvation. A funny and emotional story, this book takes the reader on a winding ride of self discovery and hope.
