There she goes again.

Another hike yields another life analogy.

Because that’s just a pattern in my life.

Can’t help it.

I’ve come to recognize and appreciate that ONE way that God reaches me + TEACHES me is in His creations.

Mother Nature inspires me & nurtures my spirit.

So here’s to nature. Movement. Fresh air. #MilesForJonathan. Time with God.

I’ve felt really impressed to do something a little different with the most recent collection of General Conference talks — and while this is my own personal approach, you know I’m a sharer. So of COURSE I’m sharing. 😉

Some of you share my faith. Many of you are believers with a different faith tradition. Some of you may not identify with faith at all.

Wherever you are, whatever you believe 👉🏼

If you have even the slightest bit of interest in learning about the character of Jesus Christ …

If you are drawn to messages of HOPE …

If you could use a healthy dose of good news & genuine encouragement …

If you’re striving to be a better version of yourself …

That’s what these talks do for me and many millions around the world. And the messages are available to anyone & everyone.

See for yourself. 💛 by @realbeckyhiggins

In case you feel stuck.

In case you’re not sure where to go from here.

In case you’re uncertain about the future.

@davidabednar shared this advice with @byuidaho students on Thursday (incidentally I listened to it while actively moving yesterday):

“You gotta be doing and going — not sitting and waiting”

This advice is solid for ALL of us, of various ages and life circumstances!

I’ve certainly had moments of feeling stuck — but not for long. I learned this principle a long time ago and I’ve put it to practice over & over, in a myriad of ways. Even still, I appreciate the reminder!

I could tell you so many stories of simply taking action / moving in some way — even if I didn’t know my direction … even if I didn’t know where it would lead … even if I wasn’t sure if the next step was “right” or “wrong”.

The way forward is to move forward.

Sometimes that looks like the tiniest little baby step, but there has to be movement.

Go and do.
Get after it.
Do the next right thing. by @realbeckyhiggins

It always feels so good to be in the House of the Lord. Sometimes it feels simple + routine + peaceful. Sometimes it feels more profound + revelatory.

Today I decided to pay attention to specific blessings I was noticing that seemed to be directly connected to my choice to be in the temple this time.

We find what we’re looking for.
This is true for all of us.

When I intentionally look for the good … look for how God is in my story … look for the blessings in my day … I am happier. I experience more joy. by @realbeckyhiggins

There are certain things I do to feel grounded and centered. Spending time in nature is one such thing. Sometimes familiar trails; sometimes new-to-me places.

That’s why, when I needed to be in Colorado recently on a student visa errand with Crew (a preparatory step for his move to Japan) I took some intentional time to get out of the city and go explore some natural beauty — including Paint Mines.

My soul needs it.
And God meets me there.

I know there is no limitation to where He meets me, but I sure do have a pattern, a history, a tendency to feel a little closer to heaven in certain places and circumstances. Nature is one of them.

Also — being in the scriptures, being in the temple, driving in my car alone and in fervent prayer, and watching / listening to / reading / studying / pondering inspired messages shared at General Conference.

And not just during those two special weekends of the year (like this weekend, right now) … but turning to these talks repeatedly, regularly, and consistently throughout my day-to-day life and throughout the entire year.

My life is enormously blessed because of the teachings, the principles, the stories, the articulation of others who are called of God to be special witnesses of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

As I write this, we still have a couple more sessions of this October 2026 general conference and already I have felt edified, strengthened, buoyed up, seen, enlightened, and reminded of precious truths that feel essential for me to remember right now.

What an absolute treasured gift in my life. I invite you to come and see for yourself. (Search “General Conference” on YouTubeTV) by @realbeckyhiggins

// in this moment //

WEARING: Spam shirt AND socks for today’s hike?! Why the heck not! It’s my nod to Japan since a piece of my heart is there now.

MISSING: Crew. He’s 5,400+ miles and an ocean away but I’m so happy he’s happy to finally be a resident of Japan! (He’s there for school)

ANTICIPATING: General Conference — not just this weekend but the coming weeks and months of studying and pondering a fresh collection of inspired messages.

STOKED ABOUT: Being back on trails again & also being back in the scriptures again. My soul has missed both.

WORKING ON: Covering 57 miles on foot (mostly hikes) during the month of October in honor of my brother who would have turned 57 this month. #MilesForJonathan

EXCITED ABOUT: Converting Crew’s bedroom into my new studio — a whole new space that only just became a vision this week!

TRYING: a few new recipes recently (shared in my stories; saved in recipes highlight — always)

GRATEFUL FOR: So so so much. But feeling particularly grateful for each person in my little family and how much there is to love about — and learn from — each of them.

STARTED: David and I have been chipping away at some serious decluttering around our home in recent weeks and we’re just getting started.

NAVIGATING: a new chapter as empty nesters. Packing my days with meaningful & fulfilling uses of my time is the EASY part but processing the bigger picture of this new season & how God wants me to consecrate my energy & focus is what I’m navigating.

SOAKING IN: FALL!! — and the dreamiest weather 🍁☀️ by @realbeckyhiggins

MARKING A NEW CHAPTER IN OUR STORY 🥹

Oh it feels so good to be among the trees again.

Committing to regular and consistent time on the trail for a while because oh my stars, do I need it.

So much to process.

The whirlwind of the last couple months has been a lot for my heart + my brain but also filled to the brim with so much goodness — and I’m grateful to be present in all of it.

I’m catching my breath. My heart is full. I don’t know that I’ve ever gone this long without sharing on Instagram — and I have so much I want to share!

But tell me this 👉🏼 If you’re an empty nester, and if you could share one thing with us as we have officially turned the page and are stepping into this new chapter with no more kiddos living full-time in our home …

What insights / advice would you share?

We’re not even a week into this and I have both shed tender tears AND have felt the thrill of new projects and adventures. Feeling the contrast of ALL of it! by @realbeckyhiggins

This isn’t about the decor — although I always love putting love into the details, and the video features all of that more than people because we were so wrapped up in being present WITH our people.

This isn’t about the color palette — although the traditional court shades of blue + green with pops of the bright green to match the pickleballs has me geeking out.

This isn’t about the fact that David made actual pickle salsa — although that’s always a hit with pickle lovers.

This isn’t about being a lil’ extra and having an actual arch backdrop complete with clustered balloons — although I love that this was Savanna’s first time doing that, and she nailed it!

Nope. Not about those things. Although the anticipating + planning + attention to details is very much a fun part of the experience, too!

This is about having a gathering simply for the sake of bringing people together without any connection to a holiday or special occasion.

Relationships and connections ARE the special occasion.

We curated a collection of people (from young kiddos and teens to senior citizens) — some who knew each other, some who came not really knowing many or any — but everyone had 2 specific things in common: 1) us + 2) pickleball!

We rotated through games and anyone who wanted to play, played. We ate. We chatted. We made new connections.

We even witnessed 2 friends who knew each other 30 years ago (!!!) and haven’t seen each other since, and they unexpectedly reunited at our pickleball party, of all places!

We did it in the name of community.
And for the love of pickleball.

It was the perfect way to celebrate that it was 1 year ago this month that David and I officially and simultaneously fell in love with the sport.

Here’s to bringing people together JUST FOR FUN! by @realbeckyhiggins

I’m a sucker for all KINDS of photo displays and this little situation at my niece’s wedding has my heart. It was simple + darling + meaningful.

THE VISION: Create a display of childhood photos of the bride + the groom at their wedding celebration.

THE BACKDROP: We borrowed this room divider from a friend who found it on Facebook Marketplace and used it (for a different purpose) at her own wedding recently. It was PERFECT! We secured the bottom of the piece with yard staples to be sure that a gust of wind wouldn’t take it down.

THE PHOTOS: This was definitely the most “involved” part of the process because it meant going down the photo rabbit hole of the past couple decades. I didn’t want the moms (bride’s mom + groom’s mom) to be overwhelmed with the task so instead of requesting a picture from every single year of their childhood I asked for about 20 pictures total from *throughout* their childhood, with the hopes that we’d get a variety of ages. And they did GREAT!

THE PRINTING: Since I was starting with the room divider itself, I chose a print size that would work well with that. 8x10 was too big but 5x7 was too small. I knew the 6x8 size would be PERFECT — and — I also knew that I could print those 6x8 photos with white borders to help give them some definition. How? Where? The Project Life app, baby! Let’s GO!! 🙌🏼 I ordered the prints directly through the app and of course the quality is fantastic. 🤩

THE DISPLAY: I paired the photos (for the most part) so that Kristyn + Luke were roughly around the same age, but I didn’t worry too much about getting it exactly right because in the spirit of simplifying we didn’t label them with years or ages or anything. We attached each photo with a standard clothespin. Easy breezy. So simple. So fast.

DOUBLE DUTY: Beginning with the end in mind, I knew that printing the 6x8 photos through the PL app also meant that these would go in a 6x8 album after the wedding, for Kristyn & Luke to enjoy forever! (6x8 albums + page protectors found at ShopBeckyHiggins.com)

Jesus specializes in the seemingly impossible.

He came here to make the impossible possible,

the irredeemable redeemable,

to heal the unhealable,

to right the unrightable,

to promise the unpromisable.

And He’s really good at it.

In fact,

He’s perfect at it.

Displays and signage are where I tend to geek out a lil’ bit and have the most fun. 🤩

Kristyn & Luke (my niece & her new husband) are not over-the-top people and we wanted to keep everything about their wedding on-brand for THEM … and it WAS! The two of them did such a great job orchestrating details that were very meaningful for the them as a couple. For example:

🤎 the aesthetics = chocolate brown satin & white baby’s breath & greenery
🤎 food = Taco Bell (their FAVORITE) & Costco pizza (Luke works there)
🤎 treat = cookies & cold milk
🤎 the exit = slip ‘n slide! (so epic)

In order of appearance, here are some notes about some of the displays & signage from their wedding:

🤎 All designer pieces were made with the Canva app — one of my all-time favorite apps.

🤎 I tried a new-to-me printing place for the foam core prints (signs & large 24x36 photos) and it’s called @quality_quick_print in North Ogden, Utah. So impressed with their customer service and quality and pricing.

🤎 The black sign stands hold the 11x17 size and I use them a lot. Got them on Amazon.

🤎 The grid piece with the engagement photos and wrapped with fairy lights … that was on display at Kristyn’s bridal shower and we kept it in tact to have at the wedding, too.

🤎 All photography (engagements, bridals) by the talented @elenelsonphotography

🤎 Instead of doing printed anything on the full-length mirror (the bride & groom included this on their wedding registry and someone bought it for them ahead of time — so nice!), we tied a 4” thick brown satin ribbon around it toward the bottom.
