Nitrate: 5000ppm -> 1600 ppm. Better soy nodule formation and reproductive growth. That's how Brody Benton clears "nitrogen constipation" with precision micronutrient applications.

Brody is an agronomist and no-till farmer who works with growers in Iowa and the midwest as an independent consultant through his company, Six B. He uses sap analysis and field trials to help growers reduce synthetic chemical dependency.

On the #RegenerativeAgriculturePodcast, @realJohnKempf and Brody discuss:
➡️ How we've gone from naturally maturing green corn to crops dependent on continuous synthetic inputs
➡️ How late-season cover crops feed soil biology to boost cash crop yields
➡️ The severe impact of chemical herbicides on soil fungi
➡️ How AEA nutrients clear nitrogen backlogs and reactivate photosynthesis
➡️ Using Pinion™ to suppresses tar spot
➡️ How trace mineral nutrition prevents phantom yield loss.

Today on the podcast, @realJohnKempf answers grower questions ranging from managing summer heat, optimizing organic nitrogen budgets, and navigating severe nutrient imbalances, and other topics from June 4's "Ask Me Anything" webinar.

Other topics include:
➡️ How a healthy, waxy leaf lowers a plant’s canopy temperature by 8 to 10 degrees.
➡️ Managing photorespiration to prevent protein degradation and the buildup of high ammonium levels.
➡️ Foliar tools to provide stressed crops with carbohydrates, enzymes, and high-energy compounds.
➡️ Retooling high-chloride potato programs with Rebound micronutrients, Holo-K, SeaShield, and SeaStim.
➡️ Avoiding “burnt leaf tips” on garlic with high molybdenum.
➡️ Using PhotoMag to efficiently convert excess ammonium into complete proteins.
➡️ Advocating for a national food policy focused on nutritional quality and farmer economic viability.
➡️ Using MacroPack and MicroPack as a foliar combination.

Phew!

Good stewards need options in the supply chain.

On the Regenerative Agriculture Podcast, Cole Mannix and @realJohnKempf discuss the problems with consolidated corporate meat packing and processing, and alternative models that can reward producers.

Cole is the founder of @OldSaltCoOp in Montana, an alternative model for meat processing and distribution. Old Salt consists of member ranches, processing hubs, e-commerce, local restaurants, and an annual community festival hosted directly on his family’s ranch.

Biological agriculture is more than the sum of its parts.

@realJohnKempf describes how applications containing multiple components with different functions, what he calls "synergistic stacks," create a response much greater than any individual component.

What happens when you bring two of regenerative agriculture's sharpest minds together for a three-hour deep dive?

John Kempf of Advancing Eco Agriculture has helped growers across the country build plant health and resilience through biology and nutrition — reducing inputs while improving outcomes. Keith Berns of Green Cover has pioneered diverse cover crop systems that transform soil structure, boost fertility, and create habitat for beneficial insects.

At the MINDSET Symposium on June 8, they're teaming up for a Masterclass on Using Biology & Diversity to Build Resilience — a hands-on session designed for growers and winemakers ready to put these practices to work in the vineyard.

This is rare access to two leaders who usually headline their own events — together, on one stage, in one conversation.

Molybdenum is a crucial part of our Nitrogen Efficiency Program, as @realJohnKempf explains.

➡️ Molybdenum is the cofactor of the nitrate reductase enzyme
➡️ It plays a key role in converting nitrate into higher forms of nitrogen.
➡️ It reduces leaching
➡️ It conserves plant energy
➡️ Small amounts are needed: generally 1 pint per acre.

With spring planting upon us, @realJohnKempf says "it would be helpful if we stopped having a conversation about nitrogen."

Wait, what?

In a brand new webinar, John Kempf describes the biological approach to nitrogen management, and how to reduce fertilizer applications when prices are skyrocketing.

Presented by @mnsoilhealthco.

When is chelation good or bad?

Chelation is referred to positively in the context of nutrient availability, and negatively when referring to the mechanism’s of action in herbicides. Why the difference?

The difference is the chelation stability constant, or chelation strength between different compounds. Glyphosate has a chelation constant that is millions or even billions of times stronger than weak organic acids such as lactic acid, which gives it the ability to chelate and strip minerals right out of living tissue. by @realjohnkempf
