$🌟SENIOR CHOREOGRAPHY SHOWCASE🌟 This weekend come support 8 of our incredible senior dance majors as they present their capstone choreography projects. Over the past 4 years they have each developed their own unique choreographic style and they are so excited to share their final works! Props and other multimedia aspects turn these senior choreographies into a whole world. This isn’t just a performance, it’s the show you don’t want to miss. The showcase is this Saturday, May 2nd at 4 and 8 PM and Sunday, May 3rd at 12 and 4 PM in the Archie Burnette Studio Theatre. Admission is $5 cash at the door, we hope to see you there! Our spring dance concert, Once Upon a Dance, opens this Wednesday March 25th and runs until Sunday March 29th! From classic stories like Cinderella and Mary Poppins to mythological tales of Persephone and Rán, this show has it all! Come watch these incredible stories be told through not words, but through the vast vocabularies of Ballet, Modern dance, Tap, Jazz, and Contemporary movement. Tickets are available now in person at our box office or online!

Are you interested in fine-tuning your talent in dance? Do you want to work with world-class professionals and instructors equipped to prepare you for a career in dance performance and choreography?

The dance performance and choreography concentration prepares you for a professional performing career. Equal emphasis is placed on the core techniques of ballet, modern, and jazz. While the program provides an excellent background in these techniques to produce a versatile dancer, it also allows performance majors to specialize in one of these forms.

Extensive training in technique is augmented with required courses in dance history, improvisation, and choreography, as well as elective courses in tap, pointe, repertory, ballroom, anatomy and kinesiology. Related courses in theatre, art, and music are included in the curriculum.

Just a couple more days until opening! We want to join the dance party and share a couple of rehearsals from #ARRRGH upcoming show, Dancing in the Streets: A Celebration of Motown. If you love Motown music, you'll love this show! Don't miss our incredible students dancing in celebration of Hitsville, USA! 🎙️

In this set of clips, check out the cast dancing in a piece by our senior student choreographers, Aubrey Kirk @aubreylkdance and Tala Shay @tala_shay! They mixed music from the 1950s with industrial sounds to pay homage to the assembly line, plus a vintage Ford advertisement, and pieces of an interview with Motown's Berry Gordy. 💜
