I have great news! Earlier today, The House once again canceled a vote on the Republican version of the Major Richard Star Act, known as the Take Care of America's Veterans Act, or as I call it, the “Taking Benefits Away from Veterans Act.”

The pressure is working! We're now at 215 of the 218 signatures needed for the discharge petition I filed with Ranking Member @repmarktakano to force a vote on my original bill. We need just 3 more signatures, and I'll keep urging others in Congress to sign on.

President Trump’s Iran War has raised prices and has hurt the American people. Since it began in February, gas prices have increased by 30%. In California, gas now averages almost $6.00 per gallon, and a Strait of Hormuz blockade could push prices even higher. Working people need lower costs, not endless conflict.

In the state of California, low-income and Latino households have seen virtually no gains in broadband access since 2019. Let’s be clear: an increase in broadband services is only accessible if it’s affordable.

Lithium Valley sits atop one of the largest known lithium deposits in the world. While developing this area is an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen our national security, anchor a domestic battery supply chain, and create good-paying jobs in the region, it must not come at the expense of the people who already live there.

The Trump Administration promised to “Make America Healthy Again” but, to no surprise, they lied and these lies are making Americans unhealthy.

This flu season was one of the most severe, measles is at a record high, 16 million people will lose health insurance and hospitals will close. As an emergency medicine physician, I have seen the devastating health outcomes that can happen when patients delay seeking care and are not able to access preventive care.

This Administration needs to stop their misguided, malicious policies that’s hurting people and making America unhealthy.

Republicans are celebrating their so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” also known as the “Big Ugly Law” as millions of Americans continue to lose access to health care and food assistance because of it. Instead of helping families make ends meet or see a doctor, Republicans prioritized huge tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans.

Congress should be focused on lowering costs, protecting health care, and creating job opportunities for working families.

Today, the #SCOTUS reaffirmed what the 14th Amendment has guaranteed for more than 150 years: every person born in the U.S. is a U.S. citizen. President Trump tried to end Birthright Citizenship and failed!

This decision brings relief to millions of Americans, especially children of mixed-status families, who can breathe easier knowing the Constitution’s promise remains intact. Today is a victory for democracy and for the fundamental principle that if you are born in the United States, you are an American.

I’ve fought tirelessly to pass the Major Richard Star Act and end the wounded veterans’ tax.

Thanks to veterans across the country speaking out, the pressure is working! Speaker Johnson canceled votes on the bill as House Republicans remain divided over both the SAVE America Act and a Republican version of the Major Richard Star Act which has drawn strong opposition from veterans and national veterans service organizations.

Now Congress must do this the right way. I won’t support a watered-down version that cuts disability benefits for one group of wounded veterans to pay another.
