AB 2599 represents an opportunity to move from conversation to commitment.

This bill will require corporations to disclose any historical ties to slavery so that we know the truth!

Transparency will lead the way to accountability.

In 1850, the same year California entered the Union as a "free state," the legislature passed a law letting Native Americans be jailed or forced into servitude.

Different communities. Same state-sanctioned playbook.

On #IndigenousPeoplesDay the Alliance for Reparations, Reconciliation and Truth stand with Native Nations pursuing their own repair.

Justice for one community doesn't take justice from another, it builds the precendent and power for all of us.

Californians continue to win! AB 2599, The Truth in Disclosure Act, authored by Assemblymember Isaac G. Bryan, has been signed into law. This new law will require large corporations to search their records and submit sworn disclosures about their historical involvement in slavery-related transactions.

We’re celebrating this win and everyone who organized and helped make this form of reparations a reality.

Californianos siguen ganando! AB 2599, la Ley de la Veracidad en la Divulgación, presentada por el asambleísta Isaac G. Bryan, se convirtió oficialmente en ley. Esta nueva ley va a exigir a las corporaciones investigar sus propios registros y declarar bajo juramento cualquier participación histórica en transacciones relacionadas con la esclavitud.

Yesterday, the movement for repair in California forced Newsom to pass the Truth in Disclosure Act, a huge step towards reckoning with the harms of the past and making the wealthy pay what they owe and return what they stole from Black communities.

Governor Newsom signed AB 2599, the Truth in Disclosure Act, into law. California is now the first state to make corporations tell the truth, under oath, about whether they profited from slavery.

This win belongs to our people. The elders who waited generations to hear this history named. The families who carry its weight every day. Everyone who signed, shared, prayed, marched, and refused to let this moment pass in silence.

Today we're celebrating Ta-Nehisi Coates, whose writing has shaped how a generation understands the case for reparations.

The harm did not end. It was restructured and carried forward.
