Studio wall of recents. Particularly thinking about this new pale blue one in a shaped perspex frame. When I figure out how to,(ie: acquire some black cloth to cancel out reflections in perspex?) I will photograph this one more carefully. The canvas shape was a chance offcut. The blue fills in to try and confirm the chance shape. A pencil grid of 30 x 30mm lines that I've used recently then tries to conform to this light blue shape. The frame then tries again to conform to this shape. By chance the bottom left and the top right corners of the frame are exactly the same size. Sort of making order out of chance. I'm calling it Borrowed Light, which some of you may understand the reference. I was reading this week that Robert Mangold's works can be seen as meditations on completeness and completeness. This rings a bell for this blue piece! by @robertmoonstudio

A new wide but narrow experiment - a collage of found canvas parts. Views of parts of it, because I like the individual parts of it, but not the whole. It’s the most spontaneous I’ve been within my current way of working and recent sense of order. I’m calling it Putney Reach. I glanced at this picture and thought of something being launched down a slipway, on the border of two places. There are lots of slipways on the Thames near Putney, in West London, and lots of Reaches on the Thames, but there is no Putney Reach. I also wasn’t thinking about any of these things when I was making it! #collage #canvas #formalism #freestyle #putney by @robertmoonstudio

Another small collage in the recent vein. Seawell Knap; canvas, acrylic, ink, pencil, adhesive, on a canvas-covered board. (Each small bright yellow square is 25mm in size). The grey part goes round the edges in this case. I see it as a type of Formalism, which includes gesture, (expressionism!), design and chance, but also 'conceptualism' in the sense that these pictures play with being somewhere between painting and sculpture. It's for sale for £200. I'm following the @artistsupportpledge model of selling and then buying other artist's work once you have sold a certain number of your own. I read an inspiring post yesterday by @matthew.collings_ describing how he had built his practice during recent years, to be commercially successfully, and exhibiting often, but also operating outside the gallery system, in the sense that he is no longer represented by a gallery. by @robertmoonstudio

A new small work, in the vein of other recents. A collage of canvas parts, with acrylic, ink, pencil and adhesive involved. All mounted on a canvas-covered board. Each square is 3cm in size. The title is Forche. The word came to mind when I thought of the multiple blades on my Swiss uncle's enormous Forcheuse, used to cut his meadows for hay each summer. (On a hot day, one side of that cut long grass would be dry enough in 2 or 3 hours to be turned over, if it had been spread properly after cutting. So well under a day to be cut, spread, turned, dried and collected and taken to his barn. That would be good going but hard work!) This piece is for sale via the model of @artistsupportpledge for £200. (You can look at my other account @robertmoon_ to see works of other artists that I have been buying. Posting shortly on that front!) #collage #forche #haymaking by @robertmoonstudio

Happy to have a work (1) included in a group exhibition just opened @veloroselondon in Clerkenwell ‘(Be)Longing: Being, Longing, Belonging’ and on until August. It connects to the London Festival of Architecture and also Pride, and is a great mix of small works in this small gallery: abstract, figurative, landscape, architectural, conceptual, photography, object and AV. I’ll post some of the other works on my other account @robertmoon shortly, but the attention to detail in the curation and hang is really intriguing. The plywood walls and carpeted gallery ceiling are also super, and you even get to see all holes and some vinyl lettering left over from previous exhibition hangs still visible (5 and 6) Go see! #londonfestivalofarchitecture #pridemonth🌈 #clerkenwell by @robertmoonstudio

I posted a version of this a few weeks ago, but it’s mounted on a board now. It will also get a perspex box frame shortly. Canvas, acrylic, pencil, adhesive. #collage #painting #relief #sculpture by @robertmoonstudio

A chance moment of chaos on my work table. Includes lots of things gluing, and being weighted down with anything to hand, whilst doing so: boxes of screws, free weights, a coil of wire, sample paint pots, pieces of plywood, rulers. I'm most intrigued by the piece of plank in the foreground that receeds within this picture plane! #studio #worktable #picture #pictureplane by @robertmoonstudio

These are some of the earthy/pinkish colours in recent canvas pieces. (One day I might live in an adobe or rammed-earth house…) #earthcolours #pink #adobe #canvas by @robertmoonstudio

Two small works on the go. Trying to think about the edge of colour as well as other things. These have a cropped edge on the Proper Right, and a natural edge on the Proper Left and bottom. #canvas #picture #relief #sculpture #painting by @robertmoonstudio

This is eight squares, masquerading as, and creating, other shapes! The yellow is ink on canvas with a gradation from paler to darker. The white is acrylic on canvas. #relief #collage #painting #sculpture by @robertmoonstudio
