POSTS STORIES REELS
This week Chef Ray Sheehan wrote an article on his substack about the rise of Pellet Grills in the backyard and competition BBQ. I know Ray through my friends Len and Jeff of the Baseball and BBQ show. He asked me for a few pictures and I gladly provided him some. Little did I know that I was going to be included in the article. Thank you very much for the kind words and including me. I became aware of Pellet Grills while cooking at the Jack in 2013, bought my first one, a Traeger Texas unit, that Fall from a kiosk in the local mall. First contest I got a 14th in Ribs and 11th in Brisket at my first cookoff (Western Wood in Helotes). Wound up being 18th out of 225 teams in the 3 cook-off series. I believe that I was the first to cook exclusively on Pellet Grills. I called Chad Ward and actively got Traeger to help me provide some of the best cookers in Texas their own Traeger to use on their back porch and recipe development. That helped with getting IBCA to ok to specifically verify the use of Pellet Cookers in competition. My first year at the HLSR World Championship I placed 16th in brisket and the next year we won with Chicken in 2015. Also won first in Chef's Choice at the Jack in 2015. cooking steak and hasselback potatoes. All cooked on a Pellet Grill. It was my best decision in my cooking journey. Allowed me to become more creative and as I say "It is a BBQ competition NOT a fire management contest". www.frompittopage.substack.com/p/the-rise-of-the-pellet-grill by @roguecookers
HLSR BBQ Cook-off is in the books. Mike finaled in Ribs (5th using Rogue All Purpose Seasoning & Doug's Dust) and my Brisket placed 11th (our Texas Brisket Rub and Doug's Dust) out of 248 teams. It was our 9th year with Wild Game and the most fun. Thanks to Home Depot, Priest Ranch Winery, Backyard Bay 700AM, 610AM Sports Radio and BBQ Spot for coming out and supporting the team. Go out and get you one or all three of our BBQ Rubs at Home Depot and Ace Hardware. Also on the Shop page of www.roguecookers.com . . #HLSR #Brisket #Finalist #WildGameCrew #HomeDepot by @roguecookers

Week 42 of 52 WorldWide BBQ Wedenesday. Went to Cali this past weekend home of the Tri-Tip from back in the 1950s. Also called a Santa Maria or Newport Steak. Shhhh we cooked it like a med rare steak to blow their minds tho. The real secret is putting the notch on the top while trimming so you can be sure to cut against the grain for maximum tenderness. Thanks so much to Jen, Mike, Joellen and Arnold for all their help and Joel of Priest Ranch for the entertainment. Last but not least to Shawna and Chant to coming out to experience it and of course the Human Rain Delay ⚾️ and his wife Becky. 2k samples served or 100 lbs of meat in just over 3 hrs. . #caliwinefest #pasea #tritip #hutingtonbeach #worldwidebbqwednesday by @roguecookers

Week 41 of 52 of WorldWide BBQ Wednesday. Went Italian thus week as a friend of mine (Princ of MareEMonte) pointed out to me I had never smoked meatballs. 🙀 Boy was it worth it. 💯 Combined a Nancy Silverton and Jenna SipBiteGo recipes into one. Smoked the meatballs for 1 hour at 225 on the Pro 22 then added them to a pool of RAO'S Garlic Red sauce for another hour at 325 with a dash of Sartori Parmesan at end. Wow did the sauce soak up the pecan/oak Traeger smoke. Will DEFINITELY do these again soon. ‼️ . #MEATBALLS #SMOKED #ITALIAN #TRAEGERGILLS #PARMESAN by @roguecookers
🔥🥩 WHEN MRS. FLAVORSMITH CALLS FOR BBQ… YOU BETTER DELIVER! 🥩🔥 Mrs. Flavorsmith’s coworkers requested some of MrFlavorsmith’s backyard BBQ for their company potluck! The request? TRI-TIP! 😎🔥 And wouldn’t you know it, Rogue Cookers came through to save the day! 📦🌶️ Their new Rogue Rubs had just arrived from RogueCookers.com, and the Texas Brisket Rub smelled like the PERFECT match for my citrus-inspired tri-tip! Even my four-year-old BBQ buddy, Mini Flavorsmith, gave it the official sniff test and a BIG THUMBS UP! 👍👨‍👦 As always, I followed my FLAVOR STACKING philosophy — building flavor from the inside out! 🍋 Layer 1: Fresh lime juice injected throughout the tri-tip! 🌶️ Layer 2: A generous coating of Rogue Rubs Texas Brisket Rub! 🔥 Layer 3: Smoky goodness from Cowboy lump charcoal on my Weber 22-inch kettle! 🧈 Layer 4: Thinly sliced tri-tip finished in a buttery, savory crockpot bath with beef bouillon, garlic, more Rogue Rubs, Kinder’s Tequila Lime Rub, and fresh lime juice! FOUR LAYERS OF FLAVOR! 🤤🔥 I also put some awesome gear to work! 🔥 Mallory Cookware cast iron grates and Fire Wall system! 🔥 AirChef’s 3,000°F+ BBQ torch for lighting charcoal and adding char! 📡 ThermoWorks RFX wireless probes and Gateway — flawless performance with ZERO connection drops! Most stable wireless system I’ve personally used! ❤️ THE BEST PART? Mini Flavorsmith eagerly helped throughout the cook. When he smelled the finished crockpot, he closed his eyes, took a HUGE breath, opened them wide, raised his eyebrows, and looked up at me… “THAT SMELLS AMAZING!” 🥹❤️ And apparently, he was RIGHT! 🏆 Mrs. Flavorsmith reported that her coworkers went absolutely NUTS over the flavor! NOT A SINGLE LEFTOVER COMING HOME! 😂🙌 Great BBQ, fantastic new products, four layers of flavor, and priceless memories with my little BBQ buddy! THAT’S WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT! 👨‍👦🔥 🔥 LIVE A LIFE OF FLAVOR! 😎🥩♨️👍 — MrFlavorsmith #MrFlavorsmith #FlavorStacking #TriTip #BackyardBBQ #LiveALifeOfFlavor by @roguecookers
