(EN) Following the Pilgrimage trails... ⛰️

Above Briançon, old military roads wind their way through forgotten forts and the landscapes of the Écrins. At 2,500 metres, the bikes are propped against the stone walls: time to unpack lunch.

Later, at the top of Fort de l’Infernet, we set up camp for the night. Sleeping bags out, stove lit, Opinel in hand. On the menu: pasta, a few fresh vegetables and a little génépi, enjoyed at one of the finest tables in the Alps.

Because up here, even the simplest meals taste good.

(FR) Sur les traces du Pilgrimage... ⛰️

Au-dessus de Briançon, les anciennes routes militaires serpentent entre les forts oubliés et les paysages des Écrins. À 2 500 mètres, les vélos s’adossent aux murs de pierre : il est temps de sortir le déjeuner.

Plus tard, au sommet du Fort de l’Infernet, le bivouac s’installe. Sacs de couchage sortis, réchaud allumé, Opinel à la main. Au menu : des pâtes, quelques légumes frais et un peu de génépi, face à l’une des plus belles tables des Alpes.

Parce qu'ici, en altitude, même les plats les plus simples ont bon goût.

(EN) In the height of summer, @rosmolen set out to explore the Écrins with his family. From the Chambran Valley, the trail gradually climbs, leaving the lush green landscapes behind to reach Lake Eychauda, at an elevation of 2,514 meters. ⛰️🥾

A 10-kilometer hike, nearly 900 meters of elevation gain… and a well-deserved break along the way to slice up a fresh baguette, cut a few pieces of Comté cheese, and share a lunch.

A day in the mountains just the way we like it: close to home, surrounded by loved ones, with everything you need right at your fingertips. 🧀

(FR) Au cœur de l’été, @rosmolen est parti explorer les Écrins en famille. Depuis la vallée de Chambran, le sentier s’élève peu à peu, quittant les paysages verdoyants pour rejoindre le lac de l’Eychauda, à 2 514 mètres d’altitude. ⛰️🥾

Dix kilomètres de marche, près de 900 mètres de dénivelé… et une pause bien méritée en chemin pour couper une baguette fraîche, quelques morceaux de comté, et partager un déjeuner.

Une journée en montagne comme on les aime : proche de chez soi, entouré des siens, avec l’essentiel à portée de main. 🧀 by @rosmolen

Encore un peu dans les nuages après nos deux éditions de La Ferme Colorée au Refuge de la Pousterle.

Pour ces deux rendez-vous un peu particuliers, nous avons eu la chance de nous installer au Refuge de la Pousterle et d’y accueillir nos invités dans un décor exceptionnel.

Après une montée à pied jusqu’au refuge, place à la découverte des saveurs de notre vallée autour d’une grande table partagée. Des produits locaux, de saison, préparés par @Anne_Pekelharing et son équipe, avec les montagnes tout autour.

Une belle rencontre entre randonnée, cuisine locale et moments partagés.

Still on a high after our two La Ferme Colorée editions at Refuge de la Pousterle. For these special occasions, we had the chance to take over Refuge de la Pousterle and welcome our guests in a truly beautiful mountain setting.

After hiking up to the refuge, everyone gathered around one shared table to discover the flavours of our valley. Local, seasonal produce prepared by Anne Pekelharing and her team with the mountains all around us.

Some shots from last weekend at the Tour de France finale in Paris, where I organised another pizza party for Team Jayco AlUla @greenedgecycling.

No formal post-race dinner, just 40 pizzas, beer and champagne. As always, it was quite a logistical challenge to serve hot pizzas and cold beers amid all the chaos and road closures, but once again, the cargo bike proved to be the perfect tool for the job. I even had time to ride towards the finish line myself a few hours before the riders arrived.

This year felt even more special. After three years, the team now feels like a group of cycling friends I get to hang out with once a year around the Champs-Élysées.

Last Monday myself and @rosmolen went out to scout new roads for the @le_pilgrimage event in September and I think we found something 'molto bene'.

Col de Sommeiller, Italy's highest gravel road situated in the Piedmont region. A uniquely long gravel road with not to crazy gradients going up all the way to 3000m. (check out the last slide for what we found at the top)

On our way back we visited @rifugioscarfiotti and checked out some bivac spots to make sure this idea is suitable for the Pilgrimage event. I think it can work but Simon still need to lay a few pieces off the parcours puzzle.

This climb was already on Simons list for a long-time and with the re-opening of Rifugio Scarfiotti (and the really friendly Italian crew) this valley could be one of the highlights of the next edition.

The Pianella steel @massacan_cc bike Simon is riding is specially made for The Pilgrimage. Painted in the events faded blue and smartly build for the rugged terrain and steep gradients. I totally agree with @mattdistazz that a flat bar is the way to go, especially down.

Very looking forward to riding this in September when it is not so hot anymore.

Together with @hotelsaintroch, @rosmolen and @anne_pekelharing, we organised a seven-day cycling holiday for a group of friends.

These photos were taken during the Queen Stage, where the riders took on one of Piedmont's most spectacular climbs: the legendary Colle delle Finestre.

At the summit, a buffet lunch featuring the finest local products was waiting for them, served with love and smiles by the hotel team.

Friends, great food, and unforgettable mountain views. After a week of epic climbs, shared meals, and countless memories, it's almost time to head home.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this week so special. What an incredible experience!
