Le Pilgrimage is more than a journey. It’s about pushing limits, finding salvation, embracing camaraderie, and discovering the beauty of landscapes. Through challenging terrain, you meet new friends, overcome obstacles, and find refuge at the end of the day, no matter the vehicle you choose.

Vallon du Fournel. Just beyond our welknown backyard climb, the Col de la Pousterle.

Part of the Natura 2000 network, this valley is known for its rich flora and fauna. Every year in early July, shortly after the snow has melted, the valley bursts into bloom, and our pilgrims make their way through endless fields of alpine wildflowers.

Excited faces before the start of last summer’s Le Pilgrimage Trail. Ahead of them: four days of trail running through the Écrins massif, covering more than 30 kilometres and 2,000 metres of climbing each day.

Long days in the mountains, followed by good food and evenings around the pilgrims’ table. We'll be back next summer, and registration is well underway.

When we cross the border from the Hautes-Alpes into Italy, the Strada dell’Assietta is hard to leave out.

This year, during Stage 3 of Le Pilgrimage Gravel, we went back for another long stretch of near-perfect gravel, riding above 2,000 metres and in and out of the clouds.

The pilgrims went all in. Little did they know, the real grande finale was still to come next day…

The Strada has become one of those highlights that now feels almost like a tradition within Le Pilgrimage.

And we can already say this: next year, both Le Pilgrimage Gravel and Le Pilgrimage Bikepacking will include the Strada once again.

Le Pilgrimage Gravel: mid-July 2027
Le Pilgrimage Bikepacking: end of August 2027

We’ll share the exact dates soon. Promis.

Images from Stage 3. This is the part of Le Pilgrimage Gravel where the journey starts to feel a little more like bikepacking.

This year, we left basecamp behind, crossed the Col de Bousson and headed into the quieter landscapes of Piemonte for an overnighter away from home.

Next year, Le Pilgrimage planning will be slightly different. Le Pilgrimage Gravel will most likely move to around mid-July.

That creates space at the end of August for something new: Le Pilgrimage Bikepacking. A full multi-day journey built around the same ingredients: mountains, food, stories and even more time to spent out there, deeper into the mountains.

More soon at le-pilgrimage.com/bikepacking.

The Col de Vallouise (2,621 m), one of the final challenges of our journey through the Écrins last summer. After a night at Refuge du Pelvoux, 43 kilometres of mountain trails stood between our pilgrims and the finish.

This stage will return next summer, if the mountains allows.

Tickets are now available → le-pilgrimage.com/trail

Pilgrims Nis & Lorenz making their way up to the Col de Vallouise (2,621 m), the last big climb of Le Pilgrimage Trail last summer.

43 kilometres from Refuge du Pelvoux back to basecamp, crossing some of the most remote terrain of the journey.

La Grande Finale. Weather and trail conditions permitting, this stage will return next summer.

Traditionally, Stage 3 is where Le Pilgrimage crosses borders. We leave basecamp and head towards our beloved military roads on the Italian side. To get there, the route first has to find its way across the border.

This year, we chose the Col de Bousson, an old smuggling route from the Vallée des Fonts, following a rough cart track across grazed mountain slopes before dropping our pilgrims into the quieter, forgotten landscapes of Piemonte.

A different angle on Stage 2 of this year’s Le Pilgrimage Gravel, featuring Fort Janus, an old military fort at 2,500 metres above Briançon, huge views across the borderlands, and a proper boulangerie stop to keep the inner pilgrim in good spirits.

Since the very first edition, @massacan_cc has been part of Le Pilgrimage. And from the day we met, it felt like love at first sight.

We started around the same time and grew alongside each other. Four editions later, Massacan is part of the family.

In the early years, they brought their beloved gravel bike, the Paula. This year, they returned with the new steel Pianella mountain bike. Apparently, our routes have something to do with that…

Listen to the founders of Massacan telling the story behind their brand and the Pianella.

Here’s to many years riding together! 🫶
