@le_pilgrimage Gravel 2026 - Stage 4.
The final stage of the journey took us to Colle del Sommeiller. A dead-end gravel climb up to nearly 3,000 metres. What an absolut magical place to hangout with a bunch of friends and eat cheese.

Thanks Pilgrims for an unforgettable adventure! See you in June 2027.

From blooming alpine meadows, streams of snowmelt and cascading waterfalls, all the way up to the Col du Bal (2,601 m).

Over 1,100 metres of climbing, before descending into the beautiful Vallon du Fournel.

For the first part of this double stage we had to cross the border into Italy via a short hike-a-bike session.

After leaving the fairytale-like valley 'Vallee les Fonts' we descended into Piedmont where the infamous military road Strada Provinciale 173 a.ka. Colle dell'Assietta waited for us.

Roads like these are the reason I joined the @pilgrimage Gravel event. Such an iconic place to ride bikes and when it is closed for motorised traffic it's just so chill to hang out there.

While most riders stayed in Bardonecchia, we opted for a night in the tiny village of Rochemolles that doubles as a time-machine as well. The hamlet marks the start of the off road climb of the Colle Sommeiller, which turned out to be one of the highlights in both senses with the road being closed for other traffic and taking us all the way up to 2.993 metres.

As I was able to ride the whole second part of the stage the pictures are a bit less imposing and don’t really do the climb justice. The little shelter at the end of the road is just amazing and the Rifugio half way was a treat.

The last hurdle for all pilgrims was supposed to be the Col de l’Echelle but Mother Nature had other plans, and treated almost everyone on their way to the finish to some proper Alpine hail and rain.

All pilgrims made it back and waited for the official red lantern before the real festivities took off. What an edition of @le_pilgrimage we experienced, can’t wait for fifth one next year. Thank you all for being part of our adventure.

Vallon du Fournel. Just beyond our welknown backyard climb, the Col de la Pousterle.

Part of the Natura 2000 network, this valley is known for its rich flora and fauna. Every year in early July, shortly after the snow has melted, the valley bursts into bloom, and our pilgrims make their way through endless fields of alpine wildflowers.

Excited faces before the start of last summer’s Le Pilgrimage Trail. Ahead of them: four days of trail running through the Écrins massif, covering more than 30 kilometres and 2,000 metres of climbing each day.

Long days in the mountains, followed by good food and evenings around the pilgrims’ table. We'll be back next summer, and registration is well underway.

It’s almost Friday. Even if you can’t be out riding, you could at least be reading about riding with our photo blog.

We’ve been stoked to support some really great events over the past few years, and the photo blog is where we share the dirty details behind each adventure. Head to the link in our bio to brush up on your reading today.

The Col de Vallouise (2,621 m), one of the final challenges of our journey through the Écrins last summer. After a night at Refuge du Pelvoux, 43 kilometres of mountain trails stood between our pilgrims and the finish.

This stage will return next summer, if the mountains allows.

Pilgrims Nis & Lorenz making their way up to the Col de Vallouise (2,621 m), the last big climb of Le Pilgrimage Trail last summer.

43 kilometres from Refuge du Pelvoux back to basecamp, crossing some of the most remote terrain of the journey.

La Grande Finale. Weather and trail conditions permitting, this stage will return next summer.
