Have you heard of #BringBackTheHare?

Artist @marjanwoudasculpture created the incredible 3.6m steel sculpture “Sir Hare”, which stood proudly outside @whitakermuseum in 2023. When it left Whitaker Park to go “on tour,” many in Rawtenstall were heartbroken.

As Sir Hare left Rossendale for pastures new, locals called it “perfect for the park,” “beautiful lit up at night,” and “a piece of public art that united the Valley.” Sir Hare quickly became part of Rossendale’s identity.

Now there’s an opportunity to bring him home from his current location in Wyresdale Park, Scorton — this time as a stunning Instagram-able, centrepiece in Rawtenstall Town Square.

Our second day of Art Trail.... we have Later@ presenting FREEQUENCY3

A firm favourite at the first gather@ Festival, FREEQUENCY3 is a producer, songwriter and freestyle rapper whose music has received support from BBC 1Xtra. Olivia recently performed alongside a Manchester Camerata string quartet at Rochdale Town Hall as part of an event presented with Rochdale Creates. She has also been selected for Brighter Sound’s ELEVATE, a year-long artist development programme supported by Liam Gallagher.

There will also be a Gather@ festival exhibition as well!

@davezuton was Friday night’s headliner at @gather_at_festival by @later.at.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. We all know the songs as part of The Zutons, but how would they sound stripped back?

The answer… brilliant.

It was a reminder of just how well Dave’s songs are written. No full band sound, just Dave, his acoustic guitar and that unmistakable voice. - which still sounds as good as it’s ever been. 👍✨ taken in Horse + Bamboo by @rossendalevibes

Some musicians make everything look easy… @muireann_bradley is one of them.

She walked on stage in a packed @horseandbamboo theatre - part of this year’s @gather_at_festival - and quietly held everyone’s attention with just a guitar and a voice. A real pleasure to experience whilst shooting her performance.

You may remember her from @jools.holland.official Hootenanny a few years back and now, just like then, she got a standing ovation. ✨👏

Okay, so we’re not celebrating a trophy in the way we thought we would this summer... But honestly, we’ve got something even more historic, resilient, and close to home to raise a glass to!

This year, @rawtenstallmarket1906 is officially 120 years old!

Established all the way back in 1906, the market has stood the test of time. Over the last twelve decades, they’ve faced down economic depressions, local government shakeups, threats of closure, and even fires - but the legendary Rossendale spirit has kept standing strong every single time.

Now, as the market undergoes a multi-million-pound redevelopment to secure it’s future for generations to come, it’s time to celebrate.

It’s @isabakes_ 6th birthday this weekend. A recent relocation into a new shop on Bank Street, Rawtenstall with some amazing new treats - like their homemade ice cream - you’ll need a pretty good excuse to not visit this weekend!
