😢 Heavy loss for our family this past week as my father-in-law, John Fitzpatrick, passed away.

It is heartbreaking and surreal as Colleen, our family, and I grapple with this new reality.

No matter where life took and challenged us, I felt so unconditionally loved and lifted by John.

He was rock-solid physically, mentally, and spiritually, backed by a huge heart and incredible life experience that tested him in all the ways to succeed. From working on the farm and immigrating out of Ireland to the US in the 80s and building a thriving family and business amidst all the unknowns and physical setbacks. I have so much gratitude and respect for how that carried through in the way he showed up in life, for our family and its impact on me. He was so present, so curious about others, and relished any moment for a good chat, dressing up like a leprechaun for the kids (amazing), taking in the beauty of the environment (loved seeing him run down a hill, imagining he could fly) and being there for the wins and challenges we faced. Whether it was minutes over a Starbucks mocha or a tasty pint of Guinness, or days helping us move, fix our houses in the Bay Area, LA, or getting through post-Hurricane Sandy - convincing me to stick with the leaf blower over purchasing a chainsaw 🤣 Chatting with John was like comfort food for the soul. You felt grounded, nourished, and reminded that anything in life was possible to tackle with heart, family, hard work, and faith. Especially his push to always “just ask” or “take the leap” instead of asking “what if” about your ambitions. So many rewarding learning moments together that I take to heart. Such an extraordinary guy. Thank you for all your love, Papa John. by @ryanjbowling

World Cup kickoff this week, 2028 Summer Games two years out…

The power of sport is stronger than ever in LA and is such an incredible driver of community, diplomacy, and commerce.

To champion this impact, our Local Action Marketing team was proud to partner with Michelle Edgar and Ben Reiss at The Community Collective and California State Treasurer Fiona Ma to kickoff a new speaker series bringing together leaders from business, government, tourism and international affairs. Held at Blankspaces Venice, speakers and guests honed in on sports as a catalyst to shape the future of LA, and bridge global communities closer together leading up to and beyond 2028.

To mark this moment and many more moments leading up to 208, we were also proud to debut a very exclusive hoodie collab with LCKN titled the 2028 collection. More details to share soon.

Incredible experience at the recent Greater Together LA event championing the extraordinary relationship between the UK and US across commerce, diplomacy, culture, and sport.

The collective energy and production were awesome, including a special performance by Scottish music legend Nathan Evans. I’m thrilled about the new connections made. Especially around how we can unlock the power of sport together now through 2028.

Today, the US-UK economic partnership is one of the most important in the world and LA. Underpinned by investment stock totaling around $1.5 trillion in each other’s economies, supporting over 2.6M jobs and a $437BN trading relationship.
