End of an era for me. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t sad but with the momentum I had going into this meet I can’t wait to get back to training.

S: 225 kg / 496 lbs
B: 127.5 kg / 281 lbs (missed 2.5kg more 💀)
D: 262.5 kg / 578 lbs

Huge thank you to anyone who was apart of this prep in any way shape or form. Special thanks to @cleanstrengthfitness @mallyproduceslift.66 and both @n.manders and @gg.grams for amazing game day handling.

June is Men’s Mental Health Month and coincidentally my workout anniversary (5 years 🥹).

I won’t tell you to talk about how you feel—because I didn’t and frankly I’m not the type to do that 🤣

What I will tell you is: it’s normal to not feel your best and there is always others out there struggling and fighting the same issues even if you don’t see it.

This is the first and ONLY time I’ll ever really talk about my story but I’m forever grateful for how lifting changed my life 5 years ago today.

I was struggling, it felt like my world was ending and I had no idea when or how it would go back to normal. I gave myself a reason to get out of bed, productively use my energy and be optimistic of the future through delayed gratification.

Powerlifting gave me something to work toward, something to fight for when everything else felt hopeless.

For anyone out there with anything, just start. It doesn’t matter if you feel prepared or not. You don’t need to be an expert to start. Next thing you know in a few years you may be in a position where you can look back at how far you’ve come and laugh.

As always, my DMs are open for everyone and anyone who wants to talk ❤️ by @ryanmood74

Was finally able to piece together the puzzle and put together a decent performance with mabye a few kilos to spare.

Weighed in at 78.77kg (lifting in 83) cuz I didn’t wanna cut and apparently I didn’t wanna eat either 💀

Squat: 220 kg / 484 lbs +10 lbs meet pr
Bench: 132.5 kg / 292 lbs + 20 lbs meet pr
Deadlift: 250 kg / 551 lbs + 15 lbs meet pr (I think idk)
Total: 602.5 kg / 1328 lbs
Also got drug tested 🥹

Huge thank to @mallyproduceslift and @cleanstrengthfitness for being by my side for the last 2 smth years. Also a big thank you to @ibtiliftlog for amazing attempt selection and Gameday handling. Finally thank you to all my friends, family and volunteers that made the day possible and as enjoyable as it was. taken in Band Of Barbells by @ryanmood74

Nova Scotia // Pei photo dump

I tried my best to get as much exploring in as possible. Super grateful that powerlifting has given me the opportunity to see both coasts. No colour grading or videos cuz I am lazy mb. by @ryanmood74

It’s hard to say I’m not disappointed with myself. My prep was far from perfect, riddled with injuries however I have never worked so hard and made as many sacrifices as this time around.

Every time I get under a bar I remind myself what I’m capable of and simply put it hurts to fall short time and time again. Frankly put that’s the game we choose to play and I’m confident in my abilities to learn and grow each and every time I fall short.

Squats: 215 kg / 474 lbs (3/3, +7.5 kg)
Bench: 122.5 kg / 271 lbs (1/3, +2.5 kg)
Deads: 240 kg / 529 lbs (3/3, +2.5 kg)
Total: 577.5 kg / 1273 lbs @ 73.88 kg (+17.5 kg)
Good enough for 5th place

Regardless of my performance and my opinion on it, I had a great time lifting, handling, volunteering and spectating at nationals. This trip also served as an amazing chance to do some exploring which was an amazing experience.

As always, thank you so much to @mallyproduceslift and @cleanstrengthfitness for guiding me across this crazy journey. @lifts.by.jord for putting up with me on meet day. @repswithron for getting my body to a semi healthy but mostly functional state. Finally thank you to all my friends for continuously pushing me to get better and inspiring me through their own pursuits. taken in Summerside, Prince Edward Island by @ryanmood74

Nationals 2023 recap

Imma try and keep it short, 8/9, 10kg meet pr and a 6th place finish. In hindsight I was probably fatigued from all the exploring but we live and we learn.

Squat:
205 kg / 452 lbs (5kg pr)
I was hoping for more but I’m pretty happy with the attempt selection, and I took what I was given

Bench:
155 kg / 253 lbs (-2.5kg pr)
Missed 120 kg / 264 lbs, I think it was a very doable number, the bar kinda just slipped down my right hand and it caused me to push it far away from me. I think I coulda hit it if I had another shot but I messed up my only chance 🤷🏻‍♂️

Deadlift:
237.5 kg / 524 lbs (7.5 kg pr)
Very happy with the finish on deadlifts. I haven’t been able to pull over 505 in my last 3 showings and I knew the strength was there I just failed to execute. With my hip problems there is still alot of work ahead but it was nice to finally pull something I can be semi happy with

Huge shoutout to my dawg @mallyproduceslift for coaching and handling.

19 months till the next nationals. I’ll be back and ready to put on a show 😎 by @ryanmood74

I don’t even know where to start.

This meet was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. I went into this meet with the goal of having a good time and I think that’s exactly what I did. Mentally I’ve never felt so calm and well prepared and I think that payed off.

The support I have received is overwhelming to say the least. Not only the friends and family that came across the country to watch me but the amount of people that wished me luck, congratulated me or watched the stream is incredible. I know damn well half these people don’t care about powerlifting but they watched for me.

The one thing I have learned is to shoot your shot. It’s been under a year since I decided to give competing a try and I have already lifted with some of the best in our nation.

This was a trip to remember and there will be much more to come soon enough. taken in Vancouver by @ryanmood74
