Bear was my best friend. He came into my life at just over 2 months old and 2 pounds of perfection. He was always a gentleman and a diva, the sweetest boy you’d ever meet that lived life on his own terms.

Bear taught me to grow up. He taught me patience and responsibility and how to have fun. And most of all, he taught me how to love deeply. Bear was my sidekick through some of the most transformative times in my life, always with those thoughtful and loving eyes. He could melt me in a second with one knowing glance. I was wrapped around his little paw.

Bear loved bacon and filet mignon. He loved being at the cabin. He did not like road trips unless he was on my lap. He loved going on walks and stopping every 6” to mark the territory as his own. He loved coming to my office, asking everyone for a belly rub and a treat. He loved lying on the couch or in bed for only as long as he felt necessary, and then immediately going underneath for his bedtime.

Bear loved all of you. He was a socialite of a dog and loved being in the mix. When he was a puppy, he’d stay at a dinner party until he literally fell asleep sitting up. People were his favorite. And Bear was theirs. My friend shared this morning that Bear had become such a big part of all of their lives, too. And it reminded me how truly present he was. So, thank you all for making sure that Bear was so well loved.

Bear loved playing with his big little sister Minny. He loved chasing her around the basement or backyard, but in classic Bear fashion…only until he was ready to be done. He taught her the ropes and she learned how to be the best girl because of him.

And Bear loved his dads. I’m so grateful that Paul got almost 10 amazing years with B. They immediately fell in love and became as inseparable as me and B. I always joked that Bear was Paul’s assistant because he’d sleep immediately under his work chair. They spent every day together and it was perfect.

I love you, Mr. B. I am so grateful for the gift of love you’ve given me these last 14 years. You’re the best boy. And just like every time I leave the house, I don’t end by saying goodbye. I end by saying “I love you!" by @rymacmn

Every year we honor one employee who embodies the value of our founder, JV Bailey. This year, we had the great privilege of celebrating my friend @tiffnohl. Her tireless commitment to the @baileynurseries team, our customers, and the business are undeniable. Tiffany is the go-to for most anything because she deeply cares. She’s a fierce supporter of her team, her colleagues, and doing what’s right for Bailey customers. She’s regularly says that she operates as if it was her own business, and I couldn’t agree more. I’m excited to share that I served as the behind-the-scenes Garden Design Consultant on a new HGTV show that premieres tonight! WORST YARD ON THE BLOCK transforms landscapes that need a little love into beautiful, livable spaces for deserving nominees.

I had the privilege of designing the Atlanta locations and collaborated on site management and installation with my friend and colleague Mario from ServeScape. The landscapes feature great plants from @firsteditionsshrubstrees and @endlesssummerhydrangeas, so they’ll be resilient for years to come 💙💜

Today, I turn 40.

Hard to believe, but it’s encouraged a great moment of slowing down as @minneapaulis and I spent the last 13 days in Ireland 🇮🇪 As I enter this new decade, I do so with so much gratitude for what’s brought me here and excitement for what’s ahead.

This trip was about visiting places my family lived and stepping back in time to learn more about our history. It was also about living in the moment, seeing this incredible country, spending time with Paul, and allowing myself some moments of reflection, which I admittedly don’t do enough.

I’m incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by so many people I love, do the work that drives me, experience a deep well of support from family and friends, and travel to learn from cultures all around the world.

If you can even believe it, this young man turns 14 today! He came into my life at the perfect time, returning to Minnesota as an adult and learning to grow up 😊 He’s been by my side through some of life’s biggest changes and been the best boy the entire time. Visiting the Philippines is always such a soul-filling experience, but this was an especially unique visit as we celebrated Assia and Brady’s wedding with our Filipino family 🇵🇭 Everything about the wedding day was perfection. Assia and Auntie Chit are the most thoughtful and detailed planners, Yoly and Danny have been the most welcoming hosts, Auntie Bing orchestrated a beautiful mass, and the entire family has been so gracious to the American and French contingent that was here to celebrate the newlyweds. We’ve spent the last few days running around London and the Cotswolds celebrating our anniversary week, and tonight we honor four years since our wedding day ❤️ I love these journeys we are so lucky to take together.
