The Theater of Dis-Operations project makes use of various devices in addition to the exhibition of things, Act 1. A Disarmament also consists of the introductory pamphlet, which is the product of a series of re-appropriations and is conceived as a fanzine.

“The scenic machine of Theater of Dis-Operations (Act I. A Disarmament) is composed of theatrical wings emptied of any scenography, which present themselves as such, at the zero level of any possibility, accompanied by a graphic layout that recalls banned 1970s publications and Dadaist posters, born in response to the wars of the 1910s. If theatre is the place of contradiction, then one must ask at this point what contradictions this exhibition wants to reveal or question. Dis-Operations is the place to locate the gaze: towards the anomaly, the defect, the ethical and perennial dysfunction of the theatre of war, and particularly of all that precedes it.”

We are pleased to present ‘Theater of Dis-Operations (Act I. A Disarmament’), a project curated by Sa.turn, in collaboration with ArtNoble Gallery opening on June 27th from 6pm to 9pm.

The exhibition project ‘Theater of Dis-Operations (Act I. A Disarmament)’ intends to take a critical look at the internalisation of the operational theatre of military strategy, and then to propose in a literally cutting way artistic processes and operations that have the capacity to offer new strategies of sabotaging violence, through a repertoire of potential devices and acts. A sabotage therefore capable of evading, dysfunctionalising, disarming, but also of proposing strategies of escape, desertion and “drop out” to weaken the expansive paradigm from below.

Does the act of disarming merely mean exempting the subject from the use of the weapon device? Or is it necessary to undermine that entire economic system and system of symbolic representation that contributes to feeding a market of death, in favour of the profit of economic macro-systems? Finally, disarming of whom and in favour of what?

The curatorial collective Sa.turn emphasizes the urgent need to challenge the global military-industrial market through every available means. In their latest exhibition, Theater of Dis-Operations (Act I. A Disarmament), they expose the symbolic layers on which violence replicates itself and offer an inquiry into sabotage and protest, using art to dismantle the structures of war.

Many thanks to those who came yesterday in @artnoble_gallery spaces to see Theater of Dis-Operations (Act. II, Riot) with the fantastic live performance by @_tybet .

A number of films were also screened in the exhibition including A War Play , a fantastic film by @giuliosq about the re-enactment of war and some films by artists in the exhibition such as @thiagodezan @gaiademegni_ @shadiharouni

“ From the title to the display, the exhibition intends to take a critical look at the internalisation of the definition of the theatre of war (theatre of operations), i.e. the geographical area where military strategy operations are conducted. The aim is to propose literally edgy artistic processes and operations that have the capacity to offer new strategies for sabotaging violence through a repertoire of potential devices and acts.
