Mykhailo Chekan 🇺🇦 🇪🇸 Mykhailo is a Ukrainian chef with 14 years of experience in international gastronomy. He started his career in a small city in Ukraine, worked at one of Kyiv’s leading Italian restaurants, and later moved into the cruise industry, where he progressed from cook to Sous Chef and became responsible for a team of around 50 chefs. He later worked for the royal family in the Emirates before moving into the yachting industry. Today, Mykhailo works as a private chef aboard a superyacht, travelling and discovering ingredients and food cultures around the world. Among his professional achievements are wins at the MYBA Yacht Chef Competition and the Antigua Yacht Chef Competition, where he competed alongside chefs of different nationalities. Working on yachts has shaped his approach to cooking: today you are in one country, tomorrow in another, and you never know what local ingredients you will find. Seasonality, product quality and the ability to adapt to each place have therefore become essential to his cooking. He is particularly drawn to Asian, Italian and Mexican cuisines, but does not limit himself to one direction. For Mykhailo, food is part of the journey — a way to bring back not only photographs, but flavours, emotions and memories. He joins NOMAD CHEFS for a new experience, to meet other Ukrainian chefs and for another opportunity to step beyond familiar surroundings. MYKHAILO CHEKAN SPAIN 🇪🇸 NOMAD CHEFS by @sailingwithchef
