Iyo Ang Dagat has been nominated for the @jacksonwildorg x @hollywoodclimatesummit Media Awards in the Impact Campaign category. ✨😍🙌🏻

🤓📈 The film and impact campaign is grounded in behaviour change frameworks and was based on research work by @lamaveresearch while the story was co-designed by stakeholders. It's been about impact from the start 😎, and it's an honour to be recognised in this category among the other finalists ✨

The film and campaign would not have been possible without the whole @lamaveresearch team, partners and stakeholders, editor and story crafter @jbcdp and the many people that have contributed to the campaign including @mel_sea_ AJ and Kevin.

A continued highlight and joy is interacting with local champions whose actions inspired both the film and the campaign - ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Seeing how their stories relate and captivate coastal communities brings so many feels 🦈🫶 This nomination is for everyone that has played a part in this collaborative project.

The project was made possible thanks to @saveourseasfoundation and has been amplified thanks to @earthalliance Jackson Wild and also private supporters 💙

Thank you @sharks.international 🦈🌏 for an amazing jam packed week full of learning, inspiration and sharks!

🎉 Congratulations to the @blueresources for bringing the conference to Asia for the first time and for hosting an incredible gathering for +800 people in Sri Lanka!

Before the conference started @twinblue22 and I landed in Colombo and immediately joined the @blueresources team on their fish market visit. 🎣🐟

We connected with so many old and new friends 😍 including so many past #LAMAVE staff and volunteers. It's inspiring to see what they are all doing now, and a highlight was getting to see many present their work at the conference. 🌟

🎤 We got to present the preliminary results from @lamaveresearch film and impact campaign - Iyo Ang Dagat. This was made even sweeter thanks to @saveourseasfoundation who supported a special screening of the film and created an opportunity to share the stories of our stakeholders with the science, policy and conservation shark community.
Thanks to Maizah for joining us on stage for the after screening discussion. 🫶

Thank you to everyone who joined the communications workshop hosted by David and myself. And shout out to Jade from Save Our Seas Foundation who has been championing Science Communication and a space for it at these events. 🙌✨

Throughout the week we heard from people around the world, gaining insights on how genetics and policy are combating the illegal wildlife trade of shark fins, to the importance of working alongside fishers as we try to understand and eliminate the bycatch of sharks and rays.

The main take away message, is that, the work continues and collaboration is key. 🦈💙🌏

A long overdue update on our documentary film Iyo Ang Dagat 👀 @lamaveresearch

🎤 In the last quarter of 2025 we pitched the film and impact campaign at @jacksonwildorg X @earthalliance Impact Pitch and we were one of the projects to win funding to expand our Impact Campaign with @lamaveresearch 😍🌟🏆

🍿In December 2025 @innsbrucknaturefilmfestival hosted two special screenings of the film in Manila which included many students in the audience 😄

📅On March 20 @keswickfilm festival will be hosting our UK premier. Check out their website on how to book tickets ⬇️

Donation drive to support school kids in Camarines Sur in the Philippines. Please support if you can 🫶 bank details on 4th slide - swipe

➡️ This is my friend Arnel.
We worked on a whale shark conservation project together in 2012. 💙

🧑‍🏫I He is now a teacher in Camarines Sur, located in the northen part of the #philippines
🌀 It was also one of the provinces badly hit by Typhoon Uwan (Typhoon Fung-wong internationally)

😢 Many of his students lost their home and the school was also badly damaged.

💙 He reached out to ask for help to find donations to support his students, the priority being to get food, clothing and school supplies.

Any donation amount will make a difference. If you are able to donate anything, both Arnel and I would be delighted.

I will be collecting donations and will then send them to Arnel who will be able to use the support on the ground.

A small donation can go a long way, and all the funds will be going to support on the ground where it is needed.

The mountains are calling and we must go - with @a.ponzo ⛰️😍

Such a beautiful time of year to visit the north of Italy and see the autumn colours 🌿🍂🍁

The glacier in the background is Il Grande Ghiacciaio di Verra (Grand glacier de Verraz) and it's actually in France! I'm always amazed to see these natural formations, although it's a bittersweet feeling as they are receeding so fast. It makes me wonder what the next generations will see. 🫶
