Hapa Yekaterinburg, Urusi, katika Tamasha la Kimataifa la Vijana, nimepata heshima ya kuongoza mazungumzo, nikiwa pamoja na vijana wenzangu wa Tanzania, na Naibu Waziri Mkuu wa Shirikisho la Urusi, Mheshimiwa Dmitry Chernyshenko, katika banda la Rossotrudnichestvo “Russia With You.”

Katika mazungumzo yetu, tuliwasilisha mapendekezo ya kuanzishwa kwa kituo cha mafunzo ya teknolojia na akili mnemba (AI) nchini Tanzania, kuongeza nafasi za ufadhili wa masomo hadi Watanzania 300 kwa mwaka, pamoja na kuanzisha kituo cha utafiti katika sekta za kilimo, afya, madini na teknolojia.

Baada ya mazungumzo, nilipata pia heshima ya kumkabidhi zawadi zenye asili ya Tanzania, zikiwa ishara ya utamaduni wetu, ukarimu na urafiki wa dhati. Kwa hakika, hii ilikuwa moja ya nyakati zenye furaha na maana kubwa sana kwangu.

Fursa hii ni kielelezo cha uhusiano wa muda mrefu kati ya Tanzania na Urusi, ulioasisiwa na Baba wa Taifa, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, na unaoendelea kuimarishwa kupitia diplomasia ya Rais Dkt. @samia_suluhu_hassan .

Ni heshima kubwa kuhakikisha sauti na matarajio ya vijana wa Tanzania yanafika katika majukwaa ya kimataifa.

For the longest time, I carried a deep yearning in my heart to write something that truly celebrated Muslim women and girls, something that would challenge the narrative that hijab is a limitation. I wanted to show the world that our hijabs do not define our capabilities, that beneath and beyond them, we are strong, intelligent, and capable of shaping the world around us.

And so, Beyond the Hijab was born not just as a magazine but as a movement, a voice, a testament to the power of Muslim women. This name itself carries the essence of our existence: beyond our hijabs, we are leaders, entrepreneurs, scholars, visionaries, and changemakers. We are mothers, daughters, sisters, and mentors, weaving our strength into the fabric of society.

I wrote this for every young girl who has ever doubted herself because the world told her that her hijab was a barrier. I wrote this for every woman who has ever been made to feel like she had to choose between her faith and her ambitions. I wanted them to see the incredible Muslim women who have paved the way before them women who have shattered ceilings while standing firm in their faith, women who have embraced both their hijabs and their dreams without compromise.

May this Magazine be a spark for every young girl who ever wondered if she could. Because, my dear sisters, you can. You always could. And you always will.

The African Youth Climate Change Negotiation Training 2026 is an important opportunity to turn passion into informed advocacy, strategic negotiation and meaningful influence.

THE MARATHON HAS COME TO AN END! 🇹🇿🎓

From 12th to 15th October 2026, the journey of discovering the next generation of “Mtoto wa Mo” took us through Dar es Salaam and Mwanza as part of the Mo Scholars selection process. @modewjifoundation

The marathon has officially come to an end, but the dreams, resilience, and inspiring stories we encountered will remain with us. It has been an honour to be part of a journey that goes beyond interviews and selection — a journey that reflects the hopes of young Tanzanians striving for a brighter future through education.

Behind every application was a dream, a family’s hope, and a young person determined to overcome challenges and make a difference. Meeting so many talented and deserving young people reminded us of the importance of fairness, integrity, and the responsibility that comes with making such decisions.

My sincere appreciation to the Mo Dewji Foundation for its continued commitment to empowering young people from financially disadvantaged backgrounds through access to higher education. To my fellow panelists and the entire Foundation team, thank you for the teamwork, dedication, and shared commitment throughout this journey.

And to every young person who sat before us and shared their story: your dreams matter, your efforts count, and your future holds possibilities.

The marathon may have ended, but the impact of these dreams is only beginning.

The interviews are over. The mission continues. The future is worth investing in.

From 12th to 15th October, I had the honour of joining the Mo Dewji Foundation’s Education Department as an external panelist for the Mo Scholars Programme, participating in interviews in Dar es Salaam and Mbeya as we searched for the next “Mtoto wa Mo.

This experience reminded me of how much talent, ambition and determination exists among our young people. Behind every interview was a dream, a family’s hope and a young person eager for the opportunity to pursue university education and build a better future.

Through its fully funded scholarships for academically promising students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, the Mo Dewji Foundation is helping turn those dreams into possibilities. It was a privilege to contribute to that process.

To the entire MDF team, thank you for welcoming me, supporting me and making our time together feel like working with family. Your teamwork, dedication and care for the applicants made this experience truly meaningful.

As you continue with the remaining Process and final selection, I wish you wisdom, strength and every success. May your efforts open doors for deserving young people whose potential deserves the chance to flourish.

Grateful to have played a small part in this journey. Here’s to the next generation of Mo Scholars and the futures they will build.
