This exceptional cover was designed by Carol Ly, and is illustrated by @sarahmaxwellart. (I am so, so freaking lucky to get a SECOND Sarah Maxwell cover.) Some truly cool Easter Eggs in the cover include:

This exceptional cover was designed by Angela Carlino and Liz Dresner, and is illustrated by none other than the brilliant @sarahmaxwellart. Sarah is a certified GENIUS of an artist, and actually went to various art museums to study depictions of medieval battles as inspiration for the backdrop of the cover! Precious reader, when is the last time you did something that kid-you dreamed about?

When I was kid I used to play this game at my local library. I wrote down the call number for a book and then carefully placed it like a bookmark inside of a different book. Then I would write the call number of THAT book and place it as a bookmark inside another book. The longest this chain ever got was maybe fourteen books (yes I was a strange child.) I always imagined someone coming across one of the books by chance, being intrigued by the mysterious call number, and then embarking on a full mystery around the shelves. And where did my treasure hunts always end? At a copy of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson of course! It was a game. It was joy for the pure sake of it.

Maybe that’s why I teamed up with incredible indie bookstores like @littleshopofstories and @purplecouchbookshop and @wheatberrybooks to bring a real treasure hunt with puzzles and clues and riddles and treasure maps to their stores. All three stores have events going on THIS SATURDAY. Take a screenshot of the invitation and scan the QR code to get your ticket. Trust me, you will not regret it. by @savethekitrosewater

Super duper late post but I had the most INCREDIBLE release week at @bookworksabq and @page1books and @dandelionbookshop.oakpark. I cannot thank these havens enough for hosting me, and all the gratitude to every friend and reader who came out to my first round of events!!! You all are treasures in my book!

If you want a bomb @ss sticker, character art, and custom page cipher to go with your copy of Buried Feelings, don’t forget to check in with a partner bookstore and see if they have any stock left! I know several are completely out but may I recommend @booksofwonder, @tropesandtrifles, @thenewromantics, @schulerbooks, and @bookpeople ? I believe @bhbkenosha also has some left from their treasure event last weekend, and @onceuponfallriver is hosting a SECOND treasure event later this fall! I also sent extras to @thewellreddamsel. ❤️

Check out all the treasure hunt events going on July and August at indie bookstore partners across the country: @page1books @bhbkenosha @onceuponfallriver @thewellreddamsel @littleshopofstories @purplecouchbookshop @wheatberrybooks and @bookworksabq (BookWorks also has sold out BURIED FEELINGS events on 7/11 and 8/1 😭)

While I can’t personally be at all of these events, I have handcrafted the three part scavenger hunt/ escape room game/ treasure puzzle map, lovingly packaged and sent off the boxes, and typed up a seven page game guide to go with them. But more importantly—each and every bookstore has taken the time to assign amazing personnel to hide the clues, host their event, and turn visiting your favorite bookstore into a true adventure! 🤠
