Hoy quiero compartirles otro de mis solos de saxofón, perteneciente a mi disco “Ni de aquí ni de allá”. En esta ocasión, precisamente el solo del tema que da nombre a esta producción: “Ni de aquí ni de allá”.

Una vez más, la transcripción ha sido realizada por mi querido y admirado músico y amigo @moydominguez a quien agradezco enormemente su trabajo y cariño.

A todos los que me habían pedido este solo transcrito, aquí lo tienen. Espero que lo disfruten y lo gocen tanto como yo disfruté aquel día en el estudio, cuando tuve la oportunidad de grabarlo.

Se los comparto con muchísimo cariño.

Please join us in wishing one of the most distinct voices on the alto saxophone, Gary Bartz a very happy 86🎉😊. He has so thoroughly left his mark on the history of Black American music that it is hard to find a corner of the conversation he hasn’t touched.

In 1965, he made his recording debut with Art Blakey. And who can forget his stint with Miles Davis, esp. on the “Isle of Wight” and on ‘Live/Evil,’ or his time with Max Roach and McCoy Tyner. His own group “NTU Troop,” named for the Bantu word for “essence,” blended soul, funk, African folk music, hard bop, and avant-garde jazz and recorded one of Bartz’s first classics, “I’ve Known Rivers and Other Bodies,” based on the poetry of Langston Hughes. He’s won a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Performance for his work on Roy Hargrove’s ‘Habana,’ and for his playing on McCoy Tyner ‘s ‘Illuminations.’

Smith will premiere a major new work commissioned through Chamber Music America’s prestigious New Jazz Works program, supported by the Doris Duke Foundation. Selected as one of only 14 recipients nationwide, he will debut the music throughout this special week-long engagement before recording the project to complete the commission.
