Here is yet another Oregon Timber Trail Race post. I wanted to post my own pictures along with the rest, plus a few others that @oldmanmountainracks took. So here ya go. And here’s my words: Riding and racing across an entire state on a singletrack-focused route is one of the greatest experiences in bikepacking. Some even call these journeys life-changing. There is a draw to these routes that brings us together to do hard things. The Oregon Timber Trail is one of those events that will change you. The OTTR is rugged, relentless, and untouched in many parts. Several sections of the trail have debris scattered all over, including downed trees, sticks, burned soil, and re-vegetation overgrowth. Many parts of the trail are incredible singletrack, from technical rock riding to flowy moist soil. The good parts seem to make up for the bad ones. I really hope this trail is completely rebuilt in parts for future use.The race starts off hard, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It is 200 brutal miles to the first resupply in Chemult. This is Oregon backcountry; I saw not a single soul the first 200 miles! You get some incredible descents and lots of HAB. Everything about the first 200 is the definition of hard; embrace that feeling. The resupply points get a little closer together after Chemult and are way more attainable. Get through that first 200, and you will be rewarded. Keep your head high in the bad parts and always look forward to the fun parts; you will eventually get there.Despite the mechanical issues and debris on the trail, I will be back. This is an amazing trail, and it needs more attention than it currently has. This could be a triple crown-level event. Let’s spread the word and get people to realize how great this thing is.@oceanandsan by @schultzy954

Six days. Twelve hours. Forty-four minutes.Congratulations to Alex Schultz (@schultzy954), the first rider to finish the 2026 Oregon Timber Trail Race.Alex crossed 670 miles of rugged Oregon backcountry, including the relentless opening stretch through the Fremont Tier, while overcoming a rear shock failure that affected more than 300 miles of his ride. His reflection captures both sides of the Oregon Timber Trail: incredible singletrack and wild, life-changing experiences, along with the downed trees, overgrowth, fire damage, and neglected sections that make this route so demanding.Yep ... it is also a reminder of why stewardship matters on the OTT.Congratulations, Alex, and thank you to @bikepackingcom for sharing his story (link in bio).šŸ“ø @oldmanmountainracks#oregontimbertrail #bikepacking #adventurecycling by @schultzy954

After riding this bike tonight I feel like I need to get the message out there about how much fun this bike is. The bike rips. It is smooth. Everything about this thing is smooth from @manitoumtb ā€œscience of smoothā€ to the CBF linkage, @revelbikes got this thing right. I’ve had the chance to ride it loaded, unloaded, and race it loaded. It rips regardless. It is the most stable confidence inspiring trail bike I’ve ever ridden. The CBF suspension works like a dream. The thing pedals so damn well I understand why it comes with a two position shock instead of three- it simply doesn’t need it. Those that know me, know that I don’t say this about every suspension platform. The suspension then opens up and works so well when it is needed. If you’re curious, you should try it. It’s a pretty awesome sensation that will make you smile even when it’s raining 400 miles into the CTR šŸ¤“šŸ˜œ seriously, it’s a crazy cool design. I’m almost at the final build configuration. I still need to get my @berdspokes wheels off the El Jefe and run them on this platform. Here’s the rest of the build:@revelbikes Ranger @hayesbrakes Dominion @manitoumtb mattoc, Mara, and jack @protaper cockpit @ergonbike SM team and gxr grips @berdspokes hawk27 wheels@shimanomtb xtr di2 @raceface era crank with era chainring @timepedals xc8/10Loaded the bike utilizes @oldmanmountainracks and @morrow_packs Look for more next week as I load the bike up with the race kit for the Oregon Timber Trail 700. The @sanjuan_ultracruise is a spectacular route/race in one of the most stunning mountain ranges in the country. We had a great weather window last weekend for the group start. The snow had just cleared enough to make all the high passes enjoyable. The trail riding we have in Southwest Colorado is unmatched and this route showcases so many goodies. Come race it or come ride it. You won’t be disappointed. I got to rip it on my new @revelbikes ranger and I couldn’t be more happy with the bike choice. @oldmanmountainracks @ergonbike @manitoumtb @morrow_packs @oceanandsan @silca_velo by @schultzy954

Finished up the @sanjuan_ultracruise Sunday morning and here is a little clip of how my bike was when I finished. Phone memory is all used up so I got cut off about half way through. But I did my best! I’ll follow up with all the photos I took of the route, but here’s this video for now. What a spectacularly heinously beautiful race! @revelbikes @ergonbike @manitoumtb @morrow_packs @oldmanmountainracks @oceanandsan by @schultzy954

Currently in route to Durango for the @sanjuan_ultracruise. I decided to go ride/race it last minute, but I’m pretty stoked to head to the high country in mid June. Sounds like some snow left up high but all passable. Either way pretty stoked to ride above 12K in June. The new @revelbikes Ranger seems like the perfect tool for the job, for just about all these trail heavy races. These are my favorite types of events and I’m beyond stoked to be on a bike worthy of these trails. I’m stoked about the way I built it and hopefully be able to share a better sense of it after this long one. It’s on trackleaders if you are curious. Start is Friday at 6am out of Durango Cyclery. See ya on the trails. Threw up some recent pictures of the bike in AZ. @oldmanmountainracks @morrow_packs @manitoumtb @ergonbike @silca_velo @oceanandsan by @schultzy954

@pinyonspinesbikepackingrace was a blast. Racing some of the fastest folks I know was a challenge that kept the ride interesting the entire time. Came in 4th with around 53 hours spent out there. I had a mostly good ride with a few dumb things that happened. I put a Gatorade bottle in my rack pack that ended up exploding, leaving me short on fluids and with wet clothing going into the night. Filtered from a pretty nasty cattle tank that made my stomach not very happy. The drivetrain needed constant lube. I ran out. I ended up dumping some 5w30 motor oil from a gas station on it and that kept it quiet for about 150 miles. I carried more than enough food the entire time and the bike performed flawlessly. I cannot say enough good things about the @revel__metal El jefe, @berdspokes , @manitoumtb suspension set up with @morrowpacks, @oldmanmountainracks and @ergonbike. The only thing I’ll say is I’m ready for the second half of the season where I’ll mostly be racing on full suspension on some trail races and I am ready to switch! Congrats everyone on pushing through. That was a tough 400 miles! šŸ“ø @wyattspalding by @schultzy954

Headed to flagstaff for the @pinyonspinesbikepackingrace. I’ve wanted to do this one for a while and this year it worked out. I’ve gotten to ride my @revelbikes El Jefe a lot this spring and I’m excited to put another 400 miles on the rig. Some of the best of the best will be lining up for this thing and I’m excited to share the course with everyone. Stoked for some days off work to ride bikes! @revel__metal @morrow_packs @oldmanmountainracks @berdspokes @manitoumtb @ergonbike by @schultzy954

Another @stagecoach400 in the books. Had a blast zipping back and forth out there with teammate @jlointheflow. The diversity of this route will always amaze me. It’s not my type of event with so much road riding but I love it. Even if roads aren’t really your thing you may like this one. Rolled in second and finished third in the end with the points. I rode my @revelbikes El Jefe complete with @oldmanmountainracks, @manitoumtb suspension @morrow_packs and @ergonbike. I wouldn’t change a thing. The rig rips. @silca_velo @maxxistires @oceanandsan by @schultzy954

Headed to Idyllwild for another shot at the @stagecoach400. Ready to load up @morrow_packs top tube bag with twinkies and French fries again šŸ˜† The map may look a little weird this year as we are supposed to collect POIs along the route for points. See ya Friday. https://trackleaders.com/stagecoach26f.php@revelbikes @oldmanmountainracks @revel__metal by @schultzy954
