It feels like a season of loss. And it is. Dolly, Tim Curry, our loved ones, the fucking world as we know it. But the world is busy being born, too. Death is a memento mori, and that’s how I think of my book, Lithic, the title track of which is out today. It’s a reminder to live through the grief.

The backing track is a remix of ‘Dark Age’ I made with Jay Pellicci, from the album Stone Age Is Back. Vocal recorded by me, at Jan’s Place.

He asked me what I loved
about being there

oh I dunno
it’s the sky I suppose

its several shades
of bruise

or the horse on the line
holding up the train

I guess everything
I’ve ever loved

has been
just about to vanish

the blackbird’s song
and the high wind through branches

the light slap of dusky lake
and the echoing blackbird

off in the distance
near and nearly near

one saying I am here
the other here am I

how the wind reminds the branches
of their senses

like lake water
